Yao Chen was born into the Medicine Clan and bore its distinctive fire mark and bloodline-based alchemical inheritance. He was driven from the clan after being implicated in an incident involving Flame Tiger Grass; Luo Shan later testified that he had supplied the herb, clearing the misunderstanding. 2 10

While fleeing through the Shennong Mountains, the fifteen-year-old Yao Chen was hunted by three Da Dou Shi despite possessing only three-star Dou Shi cultivation. Lin Yu and Hu Jiujiu rescued him after he collapsed from his wounds. 1

His departure from the Medicine Clan left him deeply worried for his mother, whose health had already deteriorated. Elder Yao Lan later informed him that she had died after the clan declined to save her despite possessing the means to do so. Yao Chen rejected the offer to return to the clan and chose to continue toward Sacred Pill City with Lin Yu. 5 10

Reconciliation with the Yao Clan
