An island military airfield
A strawberry soldier staggered toward the tarmac.
He was an F-16 pilot. During the previous missile bombardment, he had hidden in the hangar basement and survived by sheer luck.
Right now, his eyes were fixed on the F-16 still sitting at the end of the runway.
It was the last intact aircraft in the entire airfield.
"I can do it... I can do it... As long as I get airborne..." Panting heavily, he climbed into the cockpit and fumbled to start the engine.
The engine roared.
The plane began to taxi.
He gritted his teeth, staring fixedly at the runway ahead. There was only one thought in his mind:
Get airborne. Once I'm airborne, I'll be safe—
At that instant.
Dense black specks appeared on the distant horizon.
Like a dark cloud, like a swarm of locusts, they surged in from the west and blotted out the sky.
He froze for a moment.
Then he saw them clearly.
Drones.
Not one, not ten, not a hundred, but tens of thousands. They were identical in size and shape.
There was no need to think about it. Every single one carried a lethal weapon, sweeping in from afar like a death storm of locusts.
"No..."
His voice caught in his throat.
Part of the drone swarm broke away and began to dive.
The first drone came down, destroying a fuel truck at the end of the runway. Flames shot into the sky, completely cutting off the takeoff route.
The second, third, and fourth drones struck with precision, crashing into aircraft that had not managed to take off.
Boom boom boom boom boom!!!
The entire airfield was burning.
That F-16 stopped in the middle of the runway. Dozens of drones hit its cockpit directly, turning it into a fireball
