A private room in a tavern in Konoha.
The lights were dim, and the fragrance of wine drifted through the air.
The Konoha Sannin-Jiraiya, Orochimaru, and Tsunade-sat around a low table.
Across from them sat Tsunade's disciple, Hyuga Tianyi, known as the Leaf Village Ghost.
After personally delivering the food and wine, the owner tactfully withdrew and shut the door tightly.
Tianyi rose and respectfully filled the three cups before them with sake. The clear liquid gleamed faintly beneath the lamplight.
Orochimaru lifted his cup, studying Tianyi with interest through his golden, serpentine eyes.
His voice was as low and resonant as ever:
"It's been a while, Tianyi. You've brought all three of us together this time. Whatever you're asking must be no small matter."
Jiraiya chuckled and casually clapped Tianyi on the shoulder.
"That's right, kid! If you're having trouble, just say the word! For your teacher's sake, I'll definitely-"
Before he could finish, he caught sight of Tsunade's slightly raised fist out of the corner of his eye. The rest of his words instantly lodged in his throat.
"Ahem... I'll definitely... do what I can. What I can." Jiraiya sheepishly withdrew his hand and lifted his cup, pretending to drink.
Watching Jiraiya chicken out, Tianyi inwardly rolled his eyes.
Pah! With that pathetic courage, you think you can court my teacher? Try again in your next life.
Tsunade shot Jiraiya a glare, then turned to Tianyi.
"All right, out with it. You've even been keeping me in the dark. What exactly is this about?"
Tianyi set down the sake flask and settled back into his seat. His expression grew serious as his gaze swept over the three of them.
"My lords, my lady, I assume you've heard the rumors circulating through the village lately?"
Jiraiya scratched his head.
