The night was as black as ink, and the desert chill seeped into his bones.

Hyuga Tianyi suddenly sat up from his makeshift bed, his forehead drenched in cold sweat and his breathing ragged.

In his dream, the scene of being pierced by Gold Dust replayed over and over, finally turning into a darkness that swallowed everything.

He took several deep breaths and forced himself to calm down. The wound on his right shoulder still throbbed faintly.

But what made his heart pound even more was an inexplicable unease, as though some terrifying existence were watching him from afar.

He threw aside his blanket and quietly stepped out of the Medical Corps tent.

The camp was silent, broken only by the soft footsteps of patrolling shinobi and the crackling of distant bonfires.

The shinobi on watch nodded to him.

Tianyi walked to a slightly open patch of sand at the edge of the camp, the night wind stirring his white hair.

He closed his eyes and activated the power of Magnet Release.

An invisible sensory force spread outward, like ripples raised by a stone cast into a still lake.

It rapidly expanded in widening circles.

One hundred meters, five hundred meters, one kilometer... the Kunai and shuriken carried by his sleeping comrades within the camp.

Scattered weapon fragments in the distance, ores buried beneath the sand... all sent back faint magnetic signals.

Everything seemed normal.

Three kilometers... still nothing.

Five kilometers...

Just as the edge of his perception reached a rugged stretch of high ground roughly five kilometers away.

Thirty minutes earlier, behind the Hidden Sand Village lines, at a secret assembly point.

The desert looked even more desolate and lonely beneath the night sky.
