"Ahhhhh----!!!"

Fury roared wildly.

He staggered to his feet and walked to the wine cabinet.

The bottle of Macallan M whiskey that was originally intended to be treasured until the day of retirement is now standing quietly on the top shelf of the cabinet.

Fury grabbed the wine bottle, didn't even bother to find a cup, and just bit the cork with his teeth.

"Gudu... Gudu..."

The spicy and mellow liquid poured down his throat, but it couldn't extinguish the fire in his heart.

He drank most of the bottle in one go.

Then he stumbled back to the sofa and fell on it.

Alcohol sets in quickly.

The world in front of him began to spin, his eyelids became heavier and heavier, and his consciousness gradually blurred.

So be it.

Get some sleep.

Maybe when you wake up, it's just a nightmare.

I don't know how long it took.

The light in the safe house became dimmer. The fire in the fireplace danced, casting strange shadows.

Fury was awakened by a strange feeling.

It felt like something was staring at him.

The agent's instinct made him wake up instantly.

He rolled directly to find the nearest bunker, and subconsciously touched his waist. There was a Smith & Wesson military-police semi-automatic pistol that was always loaded.

However.

The moment his finger touched the handle of the gun.

"Huh--"

An invisible force swept across.

Fury I feel a lightness on my wrist.

The gun seemed to be alive. It jumped out of the holster and flew into the shadow of the room.

"You need this? Nick."

A voice came from the shadows beside the fireplace.

The voice was very strange. Sometimes it was from one person, and sometimes it seemed to be the overlapping tones of countless people, switching back and forth between the two.

Fury's muscles all over his body tensed instantly. He jumped up from the sofa, assumed a fighting stance, and stared in that direction.

I saw a slender hand stretching out from the shadows.

He was playing with the semi-automatic pistol in his hand.

"Good stuff. Humans always like to make these little toys that send themselves to me."

The man walked out slowly.

By the firelight of the fireplace, Fury could see his appearance clearly.

That's a very attractive looking man.

He was wearing a dark red velvet suit, well-tailored, and exuding a sense of retro luxury.

He has long black hair hanging loosely and a carefully trimmed beard on his face.

He looked like an aristocratic gentleman from the Middle Ages.

"Who are you?!" Fury asked sharply, while his brain was running rapidly, looking for things around him that could be used as weapons.

"Relax, Nick. Relax."

The man smiled, showing his white teeth.

"I don't have any ill intentions, at least not now."

As he spoke, he walked to the sofa opposite Fury and sat down gracefully.

"As for who I am..."

"I've had many names."

"Some of them were cruel and made me very hurt."

"But I like you, Nick."

The outline of the man's face seemed to be slightly distorted, and his voices became overlapping.

"You can call me--Mephisto."

"Mephisto?"

Fury frowned. Over the years, he had come into contact with aliens, Asgard gods and various supernatural phenomena, so he was no stranger to this legendary name.

"Lord Hell?" Fury sneered, "What? Hell has also laid off employees? Do you want to come to the human world to find a part-time job?"

"Ha! Humor."

Mephisto waved his hand, and the bottomed bottle of Macallan M floated into his hand.

"Tsk, tsk, tsk, what a waste. This kind of thing is rare in my place now."

He picked up the wine bottle and shook it gently. The wine that had bottomed out miraculously filled up again.

Then a wine glass appeared out of thin air in his hand, and he poured himself a glass.

"Sit down, Nick. Don't be so nervous. I'm not here to eat you."

Fury did not sit down. He still looked at the man who called himself the devil warily.

"What do you want?" Fury asked coldly, "If you are here to laugh at me, then you are too late. I have already laughed at myself enough."

"Scoffing? Oh, no, no, no."

Mephisto waved his hand.

"How could I laugh at you?"

"I've been watching you, Nick."

Mephisto's voice became deep and full of temptation.

"Because I admire you."

"I admire people who... excel."

"Those extraordinary, yet hopelessly stubborn people."

"You think you are righteous and you think you are doing a 'necessary evil'."

"You monitor the world, you build weapons, and you want to eliminate threats before disaster occurs."

"You feel you are not wrong."

"But you always taste the bitter fruit."

Mephisto sighed, his eyes showing strange compassion.

"Your secretism has destroyed you. Your desire for control breeds Hydra. You want to protect the world, but the world wants to cut you out like a cancer."

"Look at you now, Nick."

"Hide in this dark underground, drink wine, and watch the cloaked Joker deny everything you do."

"Your S.H.I.E.L.D., your Avengers, your reputation, your dignity..."

"Everything is gone."

Fury gritted his teeth and clenched his fists loudly.

"If you are here to give me psychological counseling, then you should charge a fee."

"No, I'm here to give you a... chance."

Mephisto typed the Snap.

A piece of parchment appeared out of thin air on the coffee table. There was a quill next to it.

"I know you hate."

Mephisto stood up, walked behind Fury, and whispered in his ear.

"You hate Pierce's betrayal and the world's misunderstanding."

"You hate that man too, right?"

"That hypocritical, arrogant man who treats protecting the world as an entertainment show."

"You are very smart, Nick. I don't believe you can't see that everything you are suffering now has a lot to do with that man."

"He turns your efforts into a joke."

"You shouldn't be like this, but you end up like this."

Fury was silent. He wanted to refute, but couldn't.

"Do you want to make a comeback? Nick."

Mephisto's voice was like an all-pervasive wind, blowing into Fury's heart.

"Do you want to take back S.H.I.E.L.D.? Do you want to prove that you are right? Do you want the world to kneel in front of you again and pray for your protection?"

"I can give you power." Mephisto opened his hand, and a black flame ignited in his palm.

"Give you what your heart wants most..."

Fury looked at the black flame, a trace of struggle flashed in his eyes.

"What's the price? Mephisto." Fury asked coldly.

"The price? Oh hehehe... it's just something you won't miss at all." Mephisto said with a hearty smile.

"Think about it, Nick."

"Use the power of the devil to defeat the devil."

"Isn't this what you are best at? Fighting fire with fire, for the sake of justice."

The air fell into silence...

Nick Fury finally reached out to the quill pen and slowly wrote his name.

"I've been making deals my whole life," he whispered to himself.

"Exchange freedom for security, exchange lies for truth, exchange the lives of a few for the lives of the many."

"If you can send those Hydra bastards to Hell... I'm willing to lead the way myself."
