Had that old fox Lex Luthor really cleared Metropolis out so thoroughly?
Or had he hidden the Kryptonite somewhere harder to find?
Or had Superman destroyed it all?
With those questions on his mind, Homelander and Harley Quinn took the elevator to the top-floor conference room.
Everyone inside looked grim. Bruce Wayne sat at the head of the table, a stack of freshly compiled reports before him. Steel Bone, The Flash, Deathstroke, Mera, and Phillips, the new leader of the Amazons, were all there.
They nodded in greeting when Homelander entered.
Everyone in the room was a battle-hardened fighter, but Homelander's earth-shaking battle with Superman and his miraculous rescue of the world at light speed had firmly established his dominance here.
"You look well-rested," Bruce said first, exhaustion heavy in his voice.
"Saving the world takes stamina, Bat. I have to stay in top form."
Homelander pulled out a chair at the head of the conference table and sat down with his legs spread wide.
Harley Quinn found a swivel chair nearby and amused herself by spinning around in it.
"Let's get started, Bat." Homelander tapped the table. "Tell me what trouble our new world is facing."
Bruce ignored his arrogance and turned on the conference room projector.
"I was just getting to that. Here's what we've accomplished over the past thirty hours."
Bruce pointed to several green lights on the projected map.
"Steel Bone has restored communications in the major cities of North America and Europe. He's also put together a rough population count."
Steel Bone took over. "So far, we've counted around a billion survivors worldwide. They're scattered everywhere. I've told them to gather in the nearest major cities, where it'll be easier to find supplies."
