And Harley Quinn, the woman at the center of it all, stood frozen.

She looked as if she had turned to stone.

"A... a wedding?" she stammered, as though the word meant nothing to her.

A wedding?

Our wedding?

She was Harley Quinn, the scourge of Gotham.

And now this hero who had just saved the world was asking her, in front of everyone, to prepare their wedding?

"Yes. A wedding."

Homelander stepped back half a pace, then dropped to one knee before the watching crowd.

He turned his palm upward, and a black velvet jewelry box appeared in his hand.

Click.

The box opened.

An enormous, flawless diamond caught the sunlight and blazed.

Homelander looked up at Harley Quinn, who had gone completely still, his voice solemn and tender.

"Harley Quinn, this world may be broken, but you're the most beautiful color I've found in it."

"Will you... marry me?"

"Are... are you joking?"

Harley Quinn's voice shook. Her eyes instantly filled with tears.

"I'd never joke about this, Harley."

"I'll get you the most beautiful wedding dress and the biggest diamond ring. All you have to do is decorate the church however you like."

"Then put on your dress and wait for me to come back."

"So, will you?" Homelander asked again.

"AAAAAAAH!"

Harley Quinn's scream pierced the clouds.

She covered her mouth as tears of joy poured down her face.

"Yes! Yes! A million times yes!"

She thrust out her left hand, unable to wait another second.

Smiling, Homelander slipped the huge diamond ring onto her finger. Miraculously, it fit perfectly.

Harley Quinn stared at the glittering diamond on her hand. She felt as though she were walking on clouds and spun excitedly in place.

When she looked around again, the ruined streets of Metropolis had vanished.
