The questions tangled together until Scott's mind felt overloaded.

And without any way to contact Daniel, he had no way to find out.

"Forget it..."

Scott raked a hand through his hair. Exhaustion washed over him; the night's ordeal had drained every last bit of his strength.

"I'm done thinking about it. Whatever happens, happens. I'm alive, and that's enough." Scott tucked the pendant back inside his shirt, against his skin.

"I'm going to sleep. Even if the world ends tomorrow, it can wait until I wake up." Scott sat down on the sofa, muttering to himself.

He pulled an old blanket over himself and fell into a deep sleep.

The next morning.

Bang, bang, bang! Bang, bang, bang!

Violent pounding echoed through the hallway.

"San Francisco Police Department! Open up! Scott Lang! We know you're in there!"

The pounding jolted Scott awake on the sofa. He rubbed his bleary eyes and looked ahead.

Louis stood in the living room wearing floral boxers, his hands raised and his face stricken with terror as he pressed himself against the wall.

Two fully armed officers had already forced their way through the flimsy wooden door. Their gun barrels pointed straight into the room.

"On the floor! Hands on your head! Now!" the lead officer barked.

Before Scott could even figure out what was happening, two officers rushed him and slammed him onto the floor. Cold, hard handcuffs clicked shut around his wrists behind his back.

"Scott Lang, you're under arrest." The officer hauled Scott to his feet. "Don't resist!"

"Wait! What are you arresting me for?!" Scott shouted, struggling. "I didn't do anything!"
