At Homelander's command, Eitri perked up and immediately directed the surviving dwarves into action.
"Restart the forging star ring! Everyone, back to your stations!"
The endless metal ring began to turn slowly, its sights gradually aligning with the black Death Star.
"Open the stellar core iris!" Eitri roared.
Mechanical gears meshed wildly as the massive metal iris slowly opened to either side.
The terrifyingly hot energy beam of the dying neutron star shot like a sword straight into the heart of the forge.
Just as everyone thought the forging process was about to begin smoothly—
Creak—bang!
The star ring suddenly stalled. The energy that had just gathered dissipated in an instant, and the core dimmed once more.
After a brief scraping sound, the machinery shut down completely.
Eitri's face turned livid. After stepping forward to inspect it, he returned to Homelander with his head hanging low.
"I'm sorry, God of Humanity." Eitri looked utterly dejected. "Thanos damaged the mechanical structure before he left. The star ring can no longer gather the neutron core's energy for heating. That means we don't have enough temperature to melt the Uru Steel."
Thor hurriedly asked, "How long will it take to fix?"
"A few days, or maybe several weeks." Eitri sighed and pointed at the broken rail above. "Some precision components need careful adjustment."
"Where's the Uru Steel? Take me there." Homelander suddenly spoke up. "Maybe once I take a look, it won't be a problem anymore."
Eitri did not dare delay and immediately led Homelander toward the center of the metal furnace.
Several dark, heavy chunks of Uru Steel lay quietly at the furnace's center.
"Those are them." Eitri pointed at the metal blocks.
Homelander stepped forward. Without another word, searing energy gathered in his eyes.
Sizzle—!
