Before long, the governor received a call from S.H.I.E.L.D.

When he heard that S.H.I.E.L.D.'s director had called personally, he panicked.

His legs even began to tremble.

Why is the head of Apocalypse King's agency—his boss, at least on paper—calling me?

There isn't some apocalyptic battle about to break out in my state, is there?

Should I get out of here first? No office is worth dying for.

Then Nick Fury said he needed someone to be granted visitation rights to his child.

The governor froze. That's it?

He was about to ask for details when Nick Fury said, "You have nine minutes. If the visitation order hasn't been delivered by then, I'll have Congress replace you."

The governor's office erupted into chaos.

Orders went out to the mayor and the local court. Legal procedure be damned—everything was stamped and approved.

Finally, two police cars were dispatched at full speed.

One delivered a copy of the court order to Scott Lang's ex-wife.

The other was headed to Scott Lang.

Only then would the entire legal process be complete.

When Scott Lang lost custody and visitation rights, the court had explained the requirements to him.

His ex-wife had to agree, and he had to be notified in writing.

Could one phone call really change that?

As he wondered, a police car ran red light after red light in the distance, heading straight for Luis's van.

Luis instinctively wanted to flee.

Then he remembered he hadn't done anything wrong. Running would only make him look guilty.

A court officer got out, jogged over, and asked the three people in the van, "Which of you is Mr. Scott Lang?"

"Uh... I am."

"This is the court order concerning visitation with your daughter. The court has approved it. Please accept it."

"Oh... okay."
