Ava's Origins

Apocalypse raised a hand slightly, and everyone fell silent.

When Apocalypse said nothing, unease spread through the crowd.

First, several Hydra agents had been found among them. Then the White Ghost had appeared and snatched someone away right in front of the Apocalypse King.

Everyone present held a position of power. Of course they were angry at such a brazen challenge.

Especially when it was directed at the Apocalypse King!

The powerful guests felt they might be in danger. They feared Apocalypse would mistake them for associates of Hydra or the White Ghost.

After all, anyone wealthy enough to buy cutting-edge weapons had a few skeletons in the closet.

Even if the Apocalypse King did not kill them on the spot, having S.H.I.E.L.D. investigate them would mean endless trouble.

Apocalypse was not angry, though. He was sorting through his memories.

If he was right, this White Ghost was Ava, who was supposed to appear in Ant-Man 2.

But the events of Ant-Man had not even ended yet. Why had she appeared so early?

And why had she gone so far as to snatch Cross from his grasp? What was she after?

In the original story, Ava's main goal had been to cure her Quantum Body.

It gave her the ability to pass through any substance, but it also brought her endless pain.

Every shift between her physical and quantum states tore her cells apart and rebuilt them. It was like being cut to pieces once or more every day.

The fact that Ava could endure such pain without losing her mind spoke to the strength of her will.

But even if she could bear the pain, that was not the end of it.

The worst problem was that she was running out of time.
