In midair, Apocalypse said to Black Widow, "So many people recognize me. Why didn't you tell me? I'd have disguised myself if I'd known."
Black Widow rolled her eyes at him. "I thought you knew. A few days ago, you grew so huge that even the blind on Earth saw you."
"Uh... I wasn't really paying attention."
It wasn't that Apocalypse didn't know. He simply took it for granted that mortals' opinions didn't matter.
Images of him had leaked before, and Apocalypse hadn't cared whether other people recognized him.
There had just been fewer people before. The one or two he occasionally encountered hadn't seemed this frenzied.
He hadn't expected to be caught off guard today. The common people's fervor exceeded anything he'd imagined.
Black Widow buried her face in Apocalypse's chest and said softly, "A few days ago, when you became a giant among the stars and looked down over Earth, everyone learned what you looked like."
"That overwhelming presence was more awe-inspiring to mortals than any of the times you saved the world before."
"Even as your wife, I can't help worshipping you. I don't know what I did to deserve your favor."
Apocalypse smiled. "A bond from a past life."
Meanwhile, on the streets of New York.
Apocalypse had barely left when countless prominent religious figures rushed to the scene.
To them, the Apocalypse King's appearance here was an event of tremendous significance, perfect for holding religious ceremonies.
If they didn't hold any, their followers would question their devotion.
If other sects held ceremonies and seized the chance to recruit followers, they would miss a golden opportunity.
And so, all manner of worship ceremonies took place, one after another.
The spot where Apocalypse had stood was cordoned off and named God's Footprints, for believers to worship.
