Morning Sun rose over the eastern mountains, drawing out long shadows that slanted west and fell into the rolling, isolating western hills. Ancient Shamu City stood in a basin among the mountains, beside the flowing Sand River, having endured for hundreds, perhaps thousands of years.
According to the God-descendants of North Tecos, the first ancestral God-descendants had carried the bloodline of the ancient Toltec. They had only hidden themselves in the wild mountains to escape the apocalyptic Divine Calamity. And once the Divine Calamity had passed, they went south from the north again, out from the upper reaches of the Sand River, from the "Great Sand River," out of the unbroken mountains and wasteland, and settled in this rare land of plenty! After that, the tribes gradually expanded south, until they reached both sides of the great Lerma River...
As for those Tecos tribes farther south, though their language and appearance were close to the northern Tecos people, they possessed no revered ancient divine blood, and were merely ordinary mortal tribes.
