The Sun sank beneath the horizon, and the long day moved toward night. Yet the sky was still faintly bright, like a gray-white short night. The moon phases on the polar Whale Island were interesting as well, utterly different from those on the Mesoamerican plateau. Half a pale bright moon hung far off in the southeastern sky, never able to rise too high, yet a whole ring larger than it appeared in the tropics. In the night sky, faint surging clouds were like light gauze, slowly drifting with the sea wind blowing toward the continent, gathering now and then, stretching out now and then, as if chasing that round of bright moon, forever unable to reach the end.
"Whew! The Main God bless us! This Return from the Sea Night Banquet Painting is finally finished!..."
Beneath the white-night moon, Chimer stood before the tree-stump painting table and looked at his glittering golden "masterpiece," nodding lightly in satisfaction. This was a painting he was offering to the Main God, one that would be hung in the "Whale Island Temple," even in the "Royal Capital Temple," forever recording his seafaring achievements!
And this sort of "heavy color and thick ink" that could truly leave traces behind was often far "closer to the Main God's altar" than any "burying one's head in hard work" or "risking one's life at sea." It could even be entered into the "Biography of Saints" and passed down through later generations.
Because of that, Chimer had indeed put in one hundred and twenty percent of his effort, constantly carrying out "religious painting creation," and by now had accumulated several dozen paintings. This was truly the same tune played with different skill as Miki's earlier "religious poetry creation" during his nautical explorations. The two could be said to share
