Later, Dorry told them about his origins. He had come from a place on the Grand Line called Elbaf Village, and for certain reasons, he had to settle a battle with another man here. Only the winner could leave the island.
When Luffy heard that the two had been fighting on this island for a hundred years without determining a winner, he could not help being amazed by their sense of time. Dorry explained that giants lived three times as long as humans, so living for such a long time was perfectly normal.
Zero could not help sighing. "I'm a little jealous. Such a long lifespan..."
Little Red Sparrow nodded in agreement again.
"Eep!"
"You've been fighting for a hundred years. Does it even mean anything?"
Vivi questioned Dorry. Dorry laughed but did not answer directly.
At that moment.
Boom!
A volcano some distance away suddenly erupted, and Dorry's expression turned solemn.
"That's the signal for the duel!"
Seeing Dorry rise to meet his opponent, Vivi wanted to say something more, but Luffy suddenly reached out to stop her, saying it was not what she thought it meant.
After taking a few steps, Dorry finally answered Vivi's question. "It's for honor. As for the reason, I forgot it long ago! Hahahahaha!"
With that, he broke into a run and, in the blink of an eye, collided with the giant named Brogy!
Bang!
The instant they collided, a violent gale suddenly erupted, whipping up sand and stones and uprooting trees. The terrifying force left Zero with no doubt that even the Giant Sea Kings of the Calm Belt would likely be killed outright by such an impact!
"They're huge!"
Watching the giants fight in the distance, Luffy fell backward with a stunned expression, as though the sight had dealt him an overwhelming visual blow.
While the two giants were fighting, two members of Baroque Works arrived somewhere in Little Garden. If Vivi had been there, she would definitely have recognized them: MISS. Valentine and MR. 5, whom Zero had defeated at Whiskey Peak!
After they took down a dinosaur, they entered a dome-shaped cabin made of wax. Inside, a man with the number three styled into his hair was leisurely drinking black tea, with a little girl in a hat beside him.
From their conversation, it became clear that these two new faces were also members of Baroque Works: MR. 3 and his assistant, MISS. Goldenweek!
According to MR. 3, there were two giants on this island with bounties exceeding one hundred million: Dorry, known as the Blue Ogre, and Brogy, known as the Red Ogre. He planned to hunt the two giants!
MR. 5 and MISS. Valentine did not refuse, but they made one demand. "That Executioner from the Straw Hat Pirates must be left to us. We will never let that guy go!"
Hearing the hatred in MISS. Valentine's voice, MR. 3 suddenly grew interested. Just what kind of person could make the two of them hate him so much? But that was all. Compared to fighting, he preferred strategy, and the fewer unstable factors there were, the better.
Thus, they quickly came to an agreement and prepared to set out and put the plan into action!
The two giants fought fiercely, every strike aimed at the other's fatal weak points, while every attack was narrowly evaded. It was hard to imagine that such a battle had already continued for a hundred years!
The aftershocks of the battle blew Luffy and the others' clothes and hats about as they stared blankly at the two giants, as if committing this rare scene to memory.
As though sensing something, Zero suddenly looked up and spotted a familiar-looking figure in midair. That strange outfit immediately reminded him of someone from Baroque Works. At the same time, he recalled what would happen next in the story and could not help revealing a sinister smile.
"Since I'm here, you can only blame your own bad luck!"
Little Red Sparrow: "Eep!"
Just then, Valentine happened to descend from the sky. She looked somewhat puzzled, and when MR. 5 saw her expression, he asked, "MISS. Valentine, did you see anything?"
"Yes. I saw those two giants, and the Straw Hat crew. That Executioner is there too, it's just..."
"What?"
MISS. Valentine looked uncertain, but under MR. 5's gaze, she still said it. "I think that Executioner noticed me when I saw him. That won't affect our plan, will it?"
Hearing this, MR. 5 thought for a moment before saying, "Don't worry. Our plan is foolproof. Even if he knows, he can't change anything."
MISS. Valentine could only nod, but for some reason, the next moment, Zero's meaningful smile—the one she had seen from the air while descending—appeared in her mind.
I hope I'm just overthinking it...
Not long after, Dorry and Brogy's battle ended, with their 73,466th match declared a draw. Only then did they collapse from exhaustion. The next second, the two burst into laughter again, their voices echoing through the forest and faintly dispersing some of the terror left behind by the battle.
Later, Dorry returned and sat down with Luffy and the others again.
Vivi asked Dorry whether the Log Pose really needed a full year to store enough magnetic force. Dorry's answer was somewhat vague, but he conveyed one thing: most people who reached this island could not last a year. They were either eaten by wild beasts or killed for attacking the two of them. One only needed to look at the pile of skulls in the cave to know.
Later, Dorry mentioned that he did have an Eternal Pose, but it pointed to Elbaf Village. His battle with Brogy was also over competing for that Eternal Pose, and he asked whether Luffy and the others were interested in trying to seize it.
Luffy bluntly said he did not want it, so Dorry said they would have to rely on luck. If their luck was good, they might reach the next island. Hearing that, Luffy seriously thought about it, seemingly considering whether it was feasible.
"Dorry."
Hearing someone call him, Dorry turned around and saw Zero speaking to him.
"What is it, young man?"
"I'm quite interested in your Eternal Pose. How can I get it?"
Vivi: "Zero, what are you talking about?"
Only then did Dorry seriously examine the young man before bursting into laughter.
"Young man, are you joking? Do you know that to get this Eternal Pose, you must defeat us? Do you understand that? If you take back what you just said, I can pretend I never heard it."
"I'm not joking."
Sensing the seriousness in Zero's words, Dorry stared deeply at him.
"Since you want it—"
As he spoke, he opened the barrel of liquor he had taken from Brogy, then continued, "Then—"
Boom!
A powerful explosion suddenly rang out!
