Background / History

Godrick Soldiers patrol the ruins and forests around Gatefront in Limgrave. Following the shattering of the Elden Ring, many have suffered mental damage and act with violent, instinctive hostility toward intruders. Their poor coordination makes isolated patrols vulnerable, but horn-bearing sentries can summon nearby troops into a dangerous group assault. 1 7 8

Xia Tong's first battle in the Lands Between is against a lone Godrick Soldier. He defeats the soldier with a wooden club and Barbaric Roar, receives 64 Runes, and later takes the corpse's armor and Lordsworn's Straight Sword to survive the cold. 1

Over the following days, Xia Tong systematically ambushes Godrick Soldiers, strips their equipment, and sells the spoils to Kale. The campaign culminates in the elimination of Gatefront Camp's remaining troops alongside its Godrick Knight commander, allowing Xia Tong to claim the Lordsworn's Greatsword. 2 6 8 11

Appearance

Godrick Soldiers are armored infantry identified by worn tabards and shields bearing Godrick the Grafted's lion emblem. Their equipment is often filthy, rusted, or battle-damaged. 1 2

Godrick Soldiers are capable melee fighters even in their degraded state. A severely wounded soldier can still counterattack with a sharp sword thrust, while groups of soldiers can overwhelm stronger opponents through numbers. 2 8

Gatefront Campaign

Godrick Soldiers establish the immediate danger of Limgrave and force Xia Tong to learn stealth, corpse-looting, equipment use, and Rune gathering. His first kill provides both his initial Runes and the armor needed for survival. 1 2

Xia Tong later targets isolated patrols and horn carriers to thin Gatefront Camp before confronting its final defenders. The ordinary soldiers support the Godrick Knight during the decisive battle, but Xia Tong's Sleep Pot, Spirit Ashes, and Square Off tactics defeat the camp. 8 10 11

Godrick Soldier Ashes

After nearly dying while retrieving the Godrick Soldier Ashes, Xia Tong sees the spirits transfer into Roderika's hand and form a connection with her. The event confirms Roderika's aptitude for spirit tuning. 15

The two summoned soldiers become dependable elements of Xia Tong's expanding warband. They defend the group at the Bridge of Sacrifice, support the fight against the Night's Cavalry, assist against the Minor Erdtree Guardian, and help defeat the Cemetery Shade. 17 22 23 37 38 43
