The Chuanyun Empire Takes Notice
"Young Master Wutian, this is the president's lounge. Please sit here for a while; I'll go inform the president!"
The guard led Fa Wutian into a simply decorated yet exquisitely arranged room. This was Fama's bedroom, where he usually rested at the Alchemist Association.
Fa Wutian sat down in a chair and waited for the guard's report.
Before long, two sets of hurried footsteps sounded, followed by the bedroom door being pushed open.
Fa Wutian looked up and saw the guard from earlier escorting in an elderly man of small stature, with graying temples and a hat shaped like a medicinal cauldron on his head.
"Grandpa!"
Seeing Fama arrive, Fa Wutian immediately rose respectfully and went to greet him.
"My good grandson, what made you come looking for me?"
Fama looked at his only grandson with a kind, benevolent expression.
Then, he took a bottle of second-grade medicinal pills from his storage ring and tossed it to the guard, waving for him to leave.
"Thank you for your reward, President!"
The guard accepted the medicinal pills, bowed respectfully, and withdrew.
"Grandpa, you have to help me!"
Once the guard had gone far enough, Fa Wutian hurriedly grabbed Fama's arm and pleaded.
Fama frowned upon hearing this. "What happened? Why are you so flustered?"
"It's nothing major. I just don't have a suitable weapon for practicing martial skills, so I wanted to get one from you."
After saying that, Fa Wutian scratched his head awkwardly.
"Hahaha! I thought it was something serious. But, my good grandson, you're still at the Battle Qi stage. Why are you already thinking of practicing weapon-type battle skills? At your current stage, learning hand-to-hand battle skills is enough. Your main priority should be your own cultivation!"
Fama laughed heartily, stroking Fa Wutian's head as he comforted him.
"Grandpa, I forgot to tell you—I'm already a Dou Practitioner now!"
Fama fell silent for a long while, and Fa Wutian finally realized that he had been stunned speechless by his own "great achievement."
"What? A Dou Practitioner? My good grandson, you're a Dou Practitioner now?"
Coming back to his senses, Fama immediately asked.
Ever since teaching Fa Wutian how to cultivate, he had not bothered with him again. After all, he was not Yao Lao; he could not refine Foundation-Building Spiritual Liquid to aid his cultivation.
In his understanding, medicinal pills could not be used during the Battle Qi stage. One had to cultivate steadily, step by step.
Yet now, his good grandson had suddenly told him that he had already broken through to become a Dou Practitioner!
"Mm!"
Seeing Fa Wutian nod in confirmation, Fama smiled bitterly.
"No wonder you came asking me for Qi Gathering Powder a few days ago. So you had already reached the point of breaking through."
A few days ago, the moment he had returned home, Fa Wutian had pestered him for Qi Gathering Powder.
He had found it strange at the time, but he had still agreed. Fa Wutian was his biological grandson, his only descendant. He also loved this grandson dearly, so he had assumed it was merely a child's whim and simply given him a bottle of Qi Gathering Powder. It was not anything valuable anyway. Who would have thought that he had wanted it to break through to the Dou Practitioner stage?
Suddenly, Fama seemed to remember something and hurriedly asked.
"My good grandson, what is your Battle Qi attribute?"
"Grandpa, don't worry! My Battle Qi has fire and wood attributes!"
Hearing Fa Wutian's answer, Fama finally relaxed. After all, attributes were random.
Then he sat down, poured himself a cup of tea, and casually asked as he drank, "Oh, is that so? My good grandson, what cultivation technique are you practicing?"
Their family had three cultivation techniques in total: the High Xuan Tier Fire Technique, and the High Xuan Tier Blazing Flame Mantra and Flame Control Technique.
He himself cultivated the Flame Control Technique. Based on what he knew of Fa Wutian, his grandson should have chosen between the Blazing Flame Mantra and the Flame Control Technique.
After all, those were the best cultivation techniques their family possessed!
If Fa Wutian had not had the system, he truly might have made a choice between the Blazing Flame Mantra and the Flame Control Technique, just as Fama expected.
"Grandpa, the cultivation technique I practice is called the Flame Mantra!"
"Oh, the Flame Mantra. Flame—Flame Mantra?! You're cultivating the Flame Mantra? Not the Blazing Flame Mantra?"
Hearing Fa Wutian's answer, Fama did not react at first. He thought his grandson had said the Blazing Flame Mantra, but upon careful recollection, that did not seem to be the case!
Fa Wutian nodded.
Seeing Fa Wutian's innocent expression, Fama asked gently, "My good grandson, what grade is the Flame Mantra you practice?"
"Primary Yellow Tier!"
After hearing Fa Wutian's words, Fama felt the urge to spit blood. Still, assuming his good grandson had been deceived, he continued to persuade him gently.
"My good grandson, even a dog wouldn't practice a Primary Yellow Tier cultivation technique! Listen to Grandpa. Let's disperse your cultivation and start over. If you restart now, at worst your Battle Qi will be depleted and you'll need a few days to recover. It won't cause your cultivation to fall back to the Battle Qi stage. Once you cultivate the Blazing Flame Mantra or the Flame Control Technique, your Battle Qi will return to normal in no time."
Fa Wutian shook his head after hearing that.
Only an idiot would disperse his cultivation and start over! This is an Emperor Tier cultivation technique. It may only be Primary Yellow Tier for now, but once I have enough Heavenly Flames, it won't be long before it surpasses the Blazing Flame Mantra and Flame Control Technique Grandpa mentioned!
"You child, why won't you listen to advice?"
Seeing Fa Wutian refuse, Fama immediately grew angry.
"Grandpa, actually..."
In the end, Fa Wutian used finding a bargain at the marketplace as an excuse and told him about the Flame Mantra's origins and effects.
But Fama did not believe him at all. A person could only devour one Heavenly Flame—this was common knowledge since ancient times. Yet now, his grandson was telling him that this cultivation technique could let someone devour multiple Heavenly Flames and even evolve through them. Wasn't he treating him like a fool?
Left with no other choice, Fa Wutian took out Dragon Spear Wild Dance. Only then did Fama believe him.
Seeing this, Fa Wutian could not help but sigh. The famous Flame Mantra was actually less convincing than a Primary Earth Tier battle skill!
"Grandpa, you absolutely must not tell anyone about the Flame Mantra!"
The reason Fa Wutian had told him was because he knew he could not hide it from Fama. Moreover, given how much Fama loved him, he would not try to seize the Flame Mantra. That was why he had so boldly told Fama about practicing it.
"Don't worry! Grandpa won't say a single word to anyone!"
Fama looked at Fa Wutian before him and sighed with emotion.
"My grandson has the makings of a great emperor!"
Hearing Fama's words, Fa Wutian felt a chill run down his spine. Why did it always feel like someone was out to get him?
After getting what he wanted from Fama, he left the Alchemist Association.
However, what he did not know was that, after Fama's vigorous promotion, everyone in the Gama Empire learned that Fa Wutian had broken through to become a Dou Practitioner at only ten years old.
For a time, storms began to gather.
The imperial capital of the Chuanyun Empire.
A middle-aged man in dragon robes sat upon the dragon throne, muttering to himself.
"It seems the hidden piece I planted should make its move as well."
