"Stop!"
Not far away, Gu Rong suddenly raised his hand, blocking Gu Ling behind him. Almost simultaneously, a red light illuminated the distant treetops.
Dugu Bo whipped his head around. Green light already glimmered over the hand resting at his side. That presence had appeared for only a moment before vanishing.
But neither man relaxed.
"You felt it too?" Dugu Bo asked.
Gu Rong nodded, his gaze never leaving that direction. Gu Ling was just about to speak when a succession of snapping sounds rang out in the forest.
The bushes suddenly toppled to either side as an enormous black tiger smashed through a tree trunk and sprang out of the shadows!
Its chest was covered in blood, and its forelegs visibly buckled when its paws hit the ground, yet it still forced itself onward.
Its spread black wings scraped the branches, shedding a shower of shredded leaves. Its long tail rose high, the barb at its tip gleaming coldly.
"It really is the Dark Demon Evil God Tiger?!"
Gu Ling's eyes lit up. They had followed its trail for so long, only for the creature to come barreling straight toward them!
Dugu Bo also spotted the wound on its chest. Raising an eyebrow, he said, "Injured this badly? Was that light just now aimed at it?"
Before he finished speaking, the Dark Demon Evil God Tiger noticed the people ahead. It stopped abruptly, its bloodstained forepaws dragging two deep furrows through the ground.
Its scarlet gaze swept over Gu Rong and Dugu Bo. Rather than pouncing, the giant tiger immediately turned its head, preparing to flee in another direction.
"Teacher, stop it!"
The moment Gu Ling finished speaking, Gu Rong vanished.
