The First Underling

As an official member of the Exotic Beast Academy team, Meng Yiran was fifteen this year. She had just reached level thirty and was preparing to obtain her third Soul Ring.

Her Martial Soul was the Snake-Head Cane, inherited from her grandmother, Chao Tianxiang. It was a rather unique Tool Martial Soul, possessing both control and offensive abilities.

During the week Xiao Wu swept through the Soul Elders, Meng Yiran happened to be in seclusion, breaking through the level-thirty bottleneck. Only after emerging did she hear of Sister Xiao Wu's exploits.

She had always admired strength. Hearing that such an impressive new student had arrived at the academy, she took the initiative to seek Xiao Wu out for a spar, wanting to see the gap between herself and a genius.

That spar took place in a corner of the training grounds, with no spectators.

A minute later, Meng Yiran leaned on her cane and panted heavily. Looking at the relaxed Xiao Wu across from her, her eyes were full of admiration.

"You're really strong," Meng Yiran said sincerely.

Xiao Wu flicked her scorpion braid and spoke with pride. "Of course I am."

Seeing Xiao Wu's utterly matter-of-fact expression, Meng Yiran did not find her arrogant at all. Instead, she found this junior several years younger than herself adorable and genuine.

She put away her Snake-Head Cane, walked up to Xiao Wu, and revealed a sincere smile. "Sister Xiao Wu, from now on, I'll follow you around at the academy."

"Follow me around?" Xiao Wu blinked her large pink eyes, somewhat surprised.

Although she had defeated Meng Yiran, she had not expected her to say something like that so directly.
