Background
Lu Hao was originally a corporate worker from Blue Star. After collapsing from overwork, he transmigrated into the body of another Lu Hao in Bluestone County of the Great Jin Dynasty. The original body had died after receiving twenty staff strikes from the Black Tiger Gang for embezzling ten taels of protection money to finance Lin Qiniang’s supposed redemption from Spring Breeze Pavilion. 1
The original Lu Hao had poor martial aptitude, weak Qi-Blood, and two failed Gate-Breaking attempts; a third failure would have permanently ended his martial path. Following the transmigration, Lu Hao inherited those memories, as well as the immediate threat of repaying the gang within ten days or being sent to a deathmatch cage. 1 2
Shortly after awakening, he activated the Anything Can Be Equipped System, which turned ordinary food and martial manuals into tools for rapid cultivation. 1 2
Appearance
Lu Hao appears to be a young man of roughly seventeen or eighteen. 8 19
- His martial presence becomes oppressive when he practices the Black Tiger Stance Art at higher proficiency, causing Shi Kang to instinctively fear him. 6
- During his raid on Spring Breeze Pavilion, he concealed his identity with a wrapped head, face covering, and bloodstained clothing. 7 8
Personality
Lu Hao is pragmatic, disciplined, and highly secretive. After inheriting the original owner’s debts and reputation, he abandons that man’s obsession with Lin Qiniang and focuses on survival, cultivation, and concealing his system. 1 6
He plans before acting, scouting Spring Breeze Pavilion, constructing an improvised incense alarm, and choosing cheap chicken giblets to sustain his training. 4 5 He recognizes political traps quickly, correctly identifying that Han Zheng and Chen Xuan intended to have him, Shi Kang, and Qian Hao killed through the Water Serpent Gang. 11
Although initially sickened by killing, Lu Hao becomes increasingly ruthless when facing threats. He kills Lin Qiniang after recovering the silver she took, kills Dou Biao in combat, and refuses Liu Zimu’s plea for mercy after defeating her. 6 7 8 18
He nevertheless values genuine loyalty. He repays Shi Kang more than he borrowed, funds Shi Kang’s cultivation, protects him from Zhou Zhennan, and keeps his involvement in the Spring Breeze Pavilion murders hidden partly to protect Shi Kang from danger. 9 12 17
Abilities & Skills
Anything Can Be Equipped System
A system visible only to Lu Hao that can equip any object he can physically lift. 1
- Equipping the Black Tiger Method grants instinctive familiarity with its techniques and allows automatic realm breakthroughs once the necessary conditions are fulfilled. 2
- Permanently solidified the Chicken Leg effect: Lu Hao can fully absorb the Qi-Blood in chicken meat without waste, and equipping a chicken leg temporarily increases Qi-Blood recovery speed by 50%. 2 3
- Chicken giblets are treated as chicken meat by the system and can restore his Qi-Blood as efficiently while costing far less. 5
- The system’s stored Qi-Blood can be used to replenish him after combat and to aid recovery from injuries. 7 8
- His Equipment Slot is occupied by the Black Tiger Method; this prevents him from immediately equipping the Golden Blade Method. 8 12
Black Tiger Stance Art
The foundational half of the Black Tiger Method. It develops lower-body stability, force redirection, bodily flexibility, coordination, durability, and an intimidating martial presence. 2 5 6
- Tiger-Subduing Form — strengthens the lower body and forms the basis of a stable fighting stance. 2
- Tiger Body Form — trains methods for dispersing or redirecting an opponent’s force. 2
- Shaking Tiger Form — develops flexibility in muscles and joints. 2
- Tiger Pouncing Stance — improves whole-body coordination and explosive movement. 2
- At Grand Mastery, it grants Lu Hao a body durable enough to withstand repeated attacks from Liu Zimu, another Third Gate-Knocking Realm Martial Apprentice. 13 18
Black Tiger Fist Technique
The offensive half of the Black Tiger Method, strengthened by directing Qi-Blood through his meridians. 2 5
- Black Tiger Plucks the Heart — a direct, powerful strike used to disarm Dou Biao, kill Zhou Zhennan with one punch, and finish Liu Zimu. 7 17 18
- Black Tiger Descends the Mountain — a descending double-fist attack with crushing force. 2 7
- Black Tiger Sweeps Its Tail — a whipping rotational strike used against Dou Biao. 2 7
- Black Tiger Pounces on Prey — an explosive forward lunge; Lu Hao used it to close on and grapple Liu Zimu. 2 18
- Life-or-death combat greatly accelerates its progression; killing the Spring Breeze Pavilion guards and Dou Biao raised its Minor Mastery progress to 136/1000. 7
Combat Tactics
Lu Hao favors preparation, surprise, and decisive close-range violence rather than prolonged or honorable engagements.
- Scouted Spring Breeze Pavilion’s layout, guard positions, and Lin Qiniang’s room before attacking. 4
- Lured Dou Biao away from the pavilion to prevent attention from disrupting his objective. 7
- Accepted a dagger wound to create an opening to disarm and kill Dou Biao. 7
- Adapted against Liu Zimu’s superior footwork by abandoning ineffective direct exchanges, closing distance, grappling her, and striking at point-blank range. 18
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Black Tiger Method — low-grade introductory martial manual containing the Black Tiger Stance Art and Black Tiger Fist Technique; currently equipped in his Equipment Slot. 2 5
- Golden Blade Method — booklet taken from Dou Biao; contains a Qi-Blood-strengthening stance art and short-blade/saber techniques. Lu Hao has hidden it for future use. 7 8
- Dagger — taken from Dou Biao after their fight; used to threaten and kill Lin Qiniang. 7 8
- Mortgaged house deed — Lu Hao pawned his inherited home for ten taels to repay the Black Tiger Gang without revealing the money recovered from Lin Qiniang. 10 11
Relationships
- Shi Kang — Closest friend and loyal ally. Shi Kang aided Lu Hao after his punishment with silver and food; Lu Hao later funded Shi Kang’s successful Gate-Breaking attempt and protected him during the Water Serpent Gang negotiations. 1 12 13 17
- Lin Qiniang — Former object of the original owner’s infatuation. She deceived him out of ten taels; Lu Hao recovered the money and killed her. 1 8
- Qian Hao — Initially hostile superior and fellow target of Han Zheng’s scheme. After surviving the negotiations together, Qian Hao becomes Lu Hao’s adviser and political ally. 11 20 21
- Han Zheng — Everjoy Hall Branch Leader. He publicly promotes Lu Hao’s accomplishments while repeatedly assigning him to dangerous operations that may be intended to eliminate him. 21 23
- Chen Xuan — Deputy Branch Master aligned with Han Zheng. He helped arrange the Water Serpent Gang mission and later planned to expose Lu Hao during an attack on the Golden Saber Gang. 11 23
- Feng Feiyi — Acting leader of Water Serpent Gang’s Clear Water Hall after Liu Zimu’s death. She negotiated a truce with Lu Hao and warned him that Zhou Zhenbei may seek revenge. 19
- Zhou Zhenbei — Elder of the Water Serpent Gang and Lower Bright Force Martial Artist. He is Zhou Zhennan’s elder brother and a potential threat following Lu Hao’s killing of Zhou Zhennan. 19 20
- Zhao Mengxue — Golden Saber Gang elder and Lower Bright Force Martial Artist. She seeks revenge on Shi Kang for killing Cai Kun, whose support had enabled her advancement. 22
- Diao Xiaolin — Lin Qiniang’s son. He suspects Lu Hao killed his mother and has allied with the Golden Saber Gang to pursue revenge. 22 23
Story Role / Major Arcs
Transmigration and Debt
Lu Hao awakens in a dead gang member’s body after the Black Tiger Gang’s punishment, inherits a ten-tael debt, and activates the Anything Can Be Equipped System. He restores his Qi-Blood through chicken meat, equips the Black Tiger Method, and becomes a First Gate-Breaking Martial Apprentice. 1 2
Cultivation and Spring Breeze Pavilion Raid
Using chicken meat and cheap giblets as a cultivation resource, Lu Hao rapidly reaches the Second-Layer Gate-Breaking Realm. He scouts Spring Breeze Pavilion, infiltrates it at night, kills four guards and their captain Dou Biao, recovers his money from Lin Qiniang, and kills her. 4 5 6 7 8
Gang Conflict and Water Serpent Negotiation
To conceal the source of his recovered silver, Lu Hao mortgages his house and repays the Black Tiger Gang. Han Zheng and Chen Xuan then send him, Shi Kang, and Qian Hao into a likely death trap at the Water Serpent Gang. 10 11
Before the mission, Lu Hao reaches the Third Gate-Knocking Realm and Grand Mastery in the Black Tiger Method. At Clear Water Hall, he kills Zhou Zhennan with one punch, defeats and kills Liu Zimu, and forces a truce through strength. 13 17 18 19
Acting Deputy Branch Leader
Lu Hao’s victories earn him appointment as acting deputy branch leader of Everjoy Hall Branch, while Shi Kang becomes a minor leader. His new status also makes him a target in the Black Tiger Gang’s internal faction struggle, as Han Zheng and Chen Xuan intend to use an upcoming clash with the Golden Saber Gang to eliminate him. 21 22 23
Notable Quotes
“Lin Qiniang, it's time to return the silver you tricked out of me tonight!” 5
“Zhou Zhennan? I killed him with one punch.” 20
“I killed her with a few punches as well.” 20
Trivia
- The original Lu Hao had failed Gate Breaking twice; the system allowed the transmigrated Lu Hao to succeed on the remaining attempt without a bottleneck. 1 2
- Lu Hao’s respectful treatment of market vendors contrasts sharply with the original owner, who extorted food and harassed the roast-chicken proprietress. 3 12
- He avoids the roast-chicken shop after its proprietress begins openly flirting with him. 12 20
- If he were ever to become leader of the Black Tiger Gang, its naming custom would require him to take the name “Lu Heihu.” 22
