Chapter Sixty-Two
"Hello..."
The moment Ye Nanxun saw the caller ID, he answered without a second thought.
The call connected, and he had only managed to say "hello" before the alpha on the other end quickly cut him off.
"Xiaoxun, don't go outside."
Yan Beiyou's voice was low and magnetic. He always spoke unhurriedly, carrying a steady sense of strength.
Ye Nanxun did not know whether he was simply too nervous right now, or whether his hearing had deceived him for a moment, but the alpha had spoken those five short words a little faster than usual.
"Are you still in your room?" the alpha asked.
"Yes." Ye Nanxun looked around, his slender, pale fingers tightening around his phone. "Mr. Yan, I'm still in my bedroom. I haven't gone out."
"Don't be afraid, and don't panic. Lock your bedroom door from the inside."
The alpha's voice over the phone returned to its usual calm steadiness, low and magnetic, carrying a faint static through the receiver.
"Okay." Ye Nanxun quietly walked to the door and locked it from the inside.
With a click, the door was locked.
"Are all the windows locked?" the alpha asked again. "Check them once. Keep quiet."
There was an air purifier in the room, and he almost never opened the windows on winter nights, but Ye Nanxun still decided to follow Yan Beiyou's instructions and check them all.
Ye Nanxun put on his Bluetooth earbuds and set his phone on the bed. The voice on the other end became clearer.
He could hear the alpha's steady breathing. Beyond that, there seemed to be the sound of wind.
Was Yan Beiyou outside right now?
Ye Nanxun checked every window in the room. Hiding behind the heavy curtains, he vaguely caught sight of dark shadows flashing outside below
