Chapter Sixty-Eight
At eight thirty in the morning, several little birds chirped away on the branches of a tree in the garden.
Glancing up at the birds taking flight from the branches outside the window, Ye Nanxun lowered his head and took a sip of hot porridge. He peeled another boiled egg and ate it slowly, one bite at a time.
On the first morning after his heat ended, the alpha who had accompanied him for days hurriedly left.
At noon that day, Ye Nanxun received a call from Yan Beiyou. The alpha told him that someone from the police station would call later to explain the investigation into the intruders who had broken into the estate a few days ago.
Yan Beiyou said, "Don't be afraid. It's just procedure."
As Ye Nanxun considered where to go for lunch, he said, "I'm not afraid."
Yan Beiyou gave a few light chuckles. "I remember you aren't a picky eater."
"Mm." The other man changed topics quickly, but Ye Nanxun answered honestly.
Yan Beiyou said, "Remember to open the door for my black hovercar later."
The black hovercar that had only just left that morning returned at noon.
The hovercar parked outside the villa had its doors open, but there was no one inside. The screen before the driver's seat displayed the autopilot interface, and a paper bag bearing the Muli Restaurant logo sat somewhere conspicuous.
Ye Nanxun opened the bag and looked inside. Even the sealed containers could not contain the waves of fragrance drifting out.
"Smells so good."
His stomach rumbled with hunger. He carried the bag back into the villa, but he did not immediately open it and take out the food.
After putting away the special delivery, Ye Nanxun hurried out of the villa again in his slippers.
