Ōnoki knew Deidara's personality all too well. If the Tsuchikage's position were handed to Deidara, Iwagakure would probably become a pile of ruins before Uchiha Yuu even had to make a move.
Clearly, Ōnoki was very dissatisfied with Deidara becoming Tsuchikage. However, compared to Kawasuke, at least Deidara was one of their own.
