Before long, Noer was the only one left in the room, questioning his entire existence.
Noer rubbed his stomach and even tried jumping and walking around. After confirming that there was nothing strange about his body, he found that everything was normal.
No, there was still one thing that was a little abnormal: his brain. Right now, he inexplicably felt strangely detached.
In his daze, he even felt as though time had slowed down, as if the entire world had become slower.
Strangely, Noer did not feel the slightest fear in the face of this situation. Instead, he felt as though this was only natural.
Noer savored the sensation. In that instant, the world he saw was utterly different from the world in his memories, carrying an indescribable, ethereal quality.
A moment later, as Noer looked around, he seemed to notice something.
"How is this possible?"
Noer walked over to the bed and picked up a strand of broken hair from his pillow, his pupils shrinking slightly.
When did my eyesight become this good?
The pillow was not black, but it was somewhat darkened. Under those circumstances, could anyone spot a broken hair less than three centimeters long from five meters away at a glance?
Even with a magnifying glass, I probably wouldn't be able to see it!
"Noer is amazing! He could actually mix medicine for himself!"
"You believe that?"
"Why wouldn't I? He even drank it himself!"
"His brain is broken! Anna, you absolutely must not learn from him!"
"But seriously, have you noticed that Noer has changed a lot since that car accident?"
"I noticed a long time ago. But isn't this better? You know what he used to be like—he looked so bitter and hateful that he scared people to death."
"But you can't really blame him. He was already five years old when he came here. A five-year-old child watching his parents die horribly right in front of him... sigh."
"..."
Noer stood blankly in his room on the second floor, listening to the voices drifting up from downstairs.
The orphanage cafeteria was at the far left of the first floor, while his room was on the right side of the second floor. Could a human possibly hear a conversation in the cafeteria under those circumstances?
"Bzzz~"
Before Noer could dwell on it, a faint buzzing of wings suddenly sounded beside his ear. He turned around, and a moment later, a bee flew in through the window.
"Drip~ drip~"
Just as Noer reached out to catch the bee, he suddenly felt a warm sensation in his nostrils, as though clear snot were flowing out of his nose.
Noer raised a hand to wipe his nose, and then...
"I'm bleeding?"
Bang!
Seeing the blood on his hand, Noer swayed violently and hurriedly grabbed the table beside him to keep himself from falling.
"Huh?"
"Heh... I... heh..."
"What's happening to me?"
"Didn't she say it would only make my limbs weak?"
"Why..."
Feeling the buzzing in his head and the gradual loss of sensation in his legs, Noer was terrified. His face held a trace of confusion and shock.
Thud~
However, just as he tried to reach for the door and call for help, a bloody filter spread across his vision. Noer's brain immediately shut down, and he fell straight to the floor.
Dark crimson blood slowly flowed from the corners of his mouth and nostrils.
Five minutes later~
In the cafeteria~
"I'm so full!" Anna leaned back in her chair and contentedly rubbed her slightly round belly.
"Hehe, if you like it, then eat more." Lenoya Sala came out of the kitchen carrying a pot of chicken soup. Seeing Anna's adorable appearance, she could not help but laugh.
"Aunt Sala, why don't you just stay? Otherwise, where am I going to find food this good in the future?" Anna looked at the chicken soup on the table and licked her lips hard. But seeing her round belly, she could only suppress her craving and secretly stretched a little hand toward the soup.
Sister Aya got up and knocked Anna on the head, saying with amused exasperation, "What are you talking about? Dr. Lenoya isn't here to cook specifically for you!"
After serving Asya a bowl of chicken soup, Lenoya Sala said, "Since everyone likes it so much, I'll be responsible for the meals over the next few days."
"The next few days?" Sister Aya looked puzzled. Wasn't she supposed to leave tomorrow?
"Because of some matters, I may have to stay here for a few more days," Lenoya Sala explained.
"Aunt Sala isn't leaving?" Anna put down her chicken soup and looked at Lenoya Sala with shining eyes.
"Mm, I might be delayed for a few more days," Lenoya Sala said with a smile.
"Yay! Finally, I won't have to eat Sister Aya's—"
"Hmm!?"
"Uh... nothing!"
After saying that, Anna slowly sat back down and silently picked up her chicken soup. However, her crescent-shaped eyes made Aya, sitting across from her, grit her teeth.
Lenoya Sala laughed softly. After patting Anna on the head, she sat down. She liked this warm, harmonious atmosphere very much. Thinking carefully, ever since Athrun had been taken to the moon to study, it had been many years since she had cooked for him.
"Aunt Sala..."
Just as Lenoya Sala was thinking about Athrun, Anna beside her seemed to remember something and quietly tugged at her sleeve.
"What is it?" Lenoya Sala could not help but grow curious at Anna's cautious expression.
"Do you still have that seasoning? Could you give me a little more?" Anna asked carefully.
"Seasoning? What seasoning?" Lenoya Sala looked confused. She did not remember having any seasoning.
"The one from a few days ago," Anna quickly said.
"A few days ago? Oh, you mean that."
Lenoya Sala smiled in realization. The excuse she had casually made up back then had actually stuck with this little girl.
"Yes, yes, that one. Can you give me a little more?" Anna nodded and asked.
"What do you want it for?" Lenoya asked with a smile.
"To eat, of course. You have no idea how awful Sister Aya's cooking can be sometimes—"
"Hmm?"
"Sister Aya's cooking is the best!"
Anna hurriedly corrected herself.
"You'll suffer for this later!" Aya raised her brows and sneered.
"Actually, I lied to you. That thing isn't seasoning. It can't be eaten." Lenoya Sala took the opportunity to tell Anna the truth.
With Anna's gluttonous personality, Lenoya Sala was truly afraid that Anna might steal the Gene Potion and drink it while she was not paying attention.
"It can't be eaten?" Anna seemed to have heard something utterly unbelievable and froze on the spot.
"That's right, it can't be eaten. It's a medicine still in the experimental stage." Seeing Anna's expression, Lenoya Sala silently made a decision. When she went back later, she had better lock up the Gene Potion more securely.
Otherwise, it would be troublesome if this little glutton really took it and drank it.
That Gene Potion was even more destructive to the human body than the gene virus. None of the test subjects—animals—had survived, and the one that lasted the longest had endured for less than five hours.
"Aunt Sala is lying! It obviously can be eaten!" Anna was shaken.
"Hehe, I'm not lying to you. It really can't be eaten." Lenoya was somewhat helpless. Maybe she should lock the Gene Potion in the shuttle later.
"It obviously can be eaten. Noer ate it all!"
"Really... what did you say?"
