Taking hits without fighting back wasn't Qin Fen's style. With a shout in his heart, he immediately replied with two words: Already jerked off.
As Qin Fen looked through the sets of photos, he reached out to tap one. Just then, his phone buzzed, and the Earth God popped up.
Sun Yating raised her phone and saw "Already jerked off." She nearly spat out her red tea, a strange look crossing her face. That kid was getting more and more uninhibited.
Smack! A hand covered her eyes. "Sis, what are you so happy about? Let me see. Did some little loser fall into your clutches again?"
"Stop messing around. Do you think I'm that kind of person?" Sun Yating pulled her sister's hand away and closed her phone.
The two leaned against the sofa. They really did look alike, except Sun Yating seemed a little more mature.
"Speaking of that, why aren't you, the great doctor, flirting with your colleagues at the hospital? What are you doing here? And look at you—you reek of alcohol."
"Didn't I come to show some concern for your personal life? Sis, you're not getting any younger. You're already twenty-six."
"Asshole, I'm clearly only twenty-five." Sun Yating shot her an unhappy look. "What about you? You're already twenty-two, and you studied overseas. What, aren't you going to help your big sister draw some of Mom's attention away?"
"It's still early. I only just got back not long ago. Aren't doctors in cardiovascular and cerebrovascular medicine busy enough already? Where would I find time for romance?" Sun Yujie leaned back. "Even if I do look, I want someone special."
"Special? What counts as special? Would a homebody do, or does he have to be rich and handsome?" Sun Yating smiled. Her little sister was absolutely goddess-tier: highly educated, tall, high-income, high standards, and with a towering chest to boot. She was one of the five-high crowd.
"Those are boring. If I'm looking, I want someone special, someone interesting." A little electric scooter appeared in Sun Yujie's mind.
"Then I guess I'm doomed. Forget about helping me draw fire—your standards are even harder to meet. You just want someone who catches your eye, but I think the odds are infinitely close to zero."
"Stop talking about me. Think about yourself."
"Me? My standards actually aren't high. First, he has to be pleasing to the eye, or I'll beat him up."
Sun Yating idly fiddled with her phone.
Sun Yujie picked up the cup on the table and took a gulp. "Sis, your tea tastes so strongly of ginseng!"
"A friend gave me some. I tried steeping just a tiny bit."
Sun Yujie stared speechlessly at the teacup. Fine, it really was just a tiny bit—a small section of root, with more than half of it cut away.
"Who was it? So stingy. And you're even stingier, putting in so little. Ginseng is everywhere these days, okay? It's all organic Changbai Mountain stuff. Wild ginseng is practically gone. Do you really need to be this frugal?"
"I thought the effects were pretty good. You should be careful not to overdo it when you're weak. You've been touching yourself too much at night, and your body's depleted." Sun Yating cursed under her breath.
"Pervert!" Sun Yujie viciously threw a sofa cushion at her sister, then collapsed onto the sofa. "A little replenishment is just what I need. I've been exhausted these past few days. Uncle Song's illness is a bit tricky. Cardiovascular medicine, traditional Chinese medicine, and internal medicine all held a consultation, but none of them came up with a plan. He's old. All he can do is wait to die."
"Dad must be having a hard time. Another old friend is about to go."
"Yeah. Oh, sis, what kind of ginseng is this? It's way too potent." As she spoke, Sun Yujie soon felt her nose grow damp and hot. She touched it with her hand. Oh no—she had a nosebleed.
"Old mountain ginseng. Hey, slow down. Don't drip on my sofa." Sun Yating immediately pulled out a tissue.
Sun Yujie tilted her head back. Who was she trying to fool? Old mountain ginseng? Did they not have any at home? Had she never eaten or seen it before? She had never seen anything this potent. In no time at all, she had been over-supplemented enough to get a nosebleed. How outrageously powerful was that? Her body felt a little hot, yet indescribably comfortable, like she had been in a sauna. She felt incredibly energized, like she could stay up all night watching television without a problem.
"Quit fooling me. This is old mountain ginseng? How old? Don't tell me it's about to turn into a spirit. Just this little bit of root over-supplemented me. Do you take me for a child?"
Sun Yating was stunned too. They had old mountain ginseng at home, and she had eaten it before. She had never seen anything like this. At first, she thought it was ordinary stuff, just a small token from Qin Fen, so she hadn't taken it seriously at all. But now, it seemed this stuff was ridiculously potent.
"Sis, you have a nosebleed too!" Sun Yujie suddenly shrieked as she watched two red streams run down her sister's face. "Oh my God, this really is old mountain ginseng? You didn't poison me, did you?"
"Get lost. You're a doctor yourself—can't you feel it? Your body feels lighter, and your mind is clear and refreshed." Sun Yating tilted her head back as well. Her expression was strange. Qin Fen, Qin Fen, what exactly did you give me?
"This really is old mountain ginseng? Your friend gave it to you?" Sun Yujie's voice trembled slightly. This stuff was unbelievably amazing. She had never seen anything so powerful. Fortunately, she had not drunk much.
Sun Yating nodded.
"What kind of friend do you have? He's that impressive, and he even has ginseng like this? No, give me the remaining bit. I'll take it back and run some tests."
"Take it." As soon as Sun Yating spoke, she saw her sister start changing clothes. "Do you have to be in such a hurry?"
"I have to be. Don't worry, I won't tell anyone. I'll do it secretly. Maybe Uncle Song can use this to keep himself alive." Sun Yujie grabbed the remaining bit of root and ran off.
Sun Yating was completely dumbfounded. This could save a life? Uncle Song had kidney failure, coronary heart disease, and all sorts of other illnesses of old age. There was no cure. Qin Fen, Qin Fen, why do I feel like I know less and less about you?
Qin Fen was dumbfounded too. Again? Was it really okay for them to keep interrupting him while he was downloading photos?
Looking at those photos of stockings and calves, Qin Fen closed his eyes in exasperation. I'm not into that! They were clearly trying to tease him. He had thought there would be some great danger!
But he had no interest in looking at photos now, because the Earth God had directly sent over a pile of dirt.
Qin Fen tapped it open. "Heavenly Court Yellow Mud."
The description beneath the image was absurdly bare—just that one sentence. And sure enough, it was the least valuable item. It was none of the insanely awesome, immortal-energy-filled stuff he had imagined.
"Should I tap it or not?" Qin Fen thought for a moment, ignored the Earth God, and pressed down with one hand.
"One hundred percent. Deducting eight hundred data points for the traffic fee. Your remaining balance is 273." Luckily, he still had more than a thousand before this, or he would have been in real danger. "Looks like the road to earning data points is long and arduous."
Looking at the mud that appeared on the ground, Qin Fen put it into a large plastic basin. Since he lived in a top-floor add-on apartment, he had plenty of room. He found a spot without light and soaked the mung beans he had brought back from the restaurant in a bucket of water beside it.
Qin Fen did not choose crops with long growth cycles. Although he had complete faith in products from the Heavenly Court, it was better to start with something simple. So he chose a common vegetable: mung bean sprouts. They grew quickly and would sprout before long.
The process was simple too. Once the beans had soaked, he only needed to toss them onto the mud and cover them so no light could reach them. Qin Fen had it all planned out. Looking at the mung beans soaking in the water, his heart grew warm. "I really can't wait to see what grows out of this."
