Ten months of pregnancy-anyone with a little common sense knew that. Chinese people knew it, and so did foreigners. They had all taken prenatal classes. The moment those words came from outside, Brown's brow twitched violently, and his fists clenched even tighter.
Qin Fen kept quiet. They did not know each other well enough for him to offer an opinion, and who knew what dramatic story lay behind all this? The voice sounded familiar, as though he had heard it somewhere before.
He looked toward the voice, and a familiar stranger came into view.
Qian Kun was all smiles. Spotting Qin Fen nearby, he immediately nodded, then spread his arms in a show of affection toward Brown. While Brown stood there dazed, he gave him a hug. "Old buddy, it's been ages! There were too many people earlier, so we didn't have time to catch up. Now we've got all the time in the world!"
Brown looked at Qian Kun, then instinctively glanced at the baby.
"Master Qin, isn't Brown's baby adorable?" Qian Kun said smugly. He wanted Qin Fen to see his connections and think twice about crossing him.
Qin Fen nodded mechanically. "Very adorable! I didn't realize you knew Mr. Brown, let alone that you were so close!" The words slipped out almost instinctively.
"Of course! We're great friends. We apprenticed together in the United States and worked together too. I even knew Jenny before Brown did!" Qian Kun laid out their history to make it clear to Qin Fen that he and Brown were tight.
Qin Fen's mouth fell open. Are you trying to get yourself killed?
Brown stared blankly at Qian Kun. He had almost forgotten that detail.
"Does Mr. Brown have many friends from the East?" Qin Fen was speechless. He could barely stand watching
