"Call them in one at a time?" Wind-Following Ear looked at the crowd outside. That would be frighteningly inefficient. They might not even manage to interview half of them today. The empty roster made him panic.
The Jade Emperor had no idea what was happening. If he found out, would he fly into a rage?
Taibai naturally understood the reasoning behind his question. "Of course you call several in together. That's faster. Honestly, how do you people get anything done? You've made such a huge production of this, yet you're handling it so poorly!"
Taibai got in his smug little jab. Wind-Following Ear dared not argue and went out to bring several people inside.
He was genuinely afraid Taibai would end up like the star official from the Daily Duty Department. Fortunately, the old fox was a seasoned hand and understood Wind-Following Ear's explanation perfectly.
"Who did you study under?" The old fox Taibai skipped their names and specialties and went straight to their connections.
"I don't have a teacher, but I regard the Nature Patriarch as my teacher!"
"In my heart, only the Patriarch is worthy of being my teacher."
"Learning is not a matter of seniority; whoever excels is the teacher. In the crafts, Dongwang Gong naturally reigns supreme!"
Wonderful. As the people below chattered away, Taibai's brow twitched furiously. He finally understood why the star official had fled. This really wasn't a job for any sane person.
Without another word, Taibai pointed at the roster. "Write down your names yourselves, then go home and wait to hear from us!"
Once everyone had left, Taibai promptly marked an × and gave Wind-Following Ear a disdainful glance, as though to say, See? It isn't actually difficult, just a little nauseating. "What are you standing there for? Keep going!"
