"Was I hearing things?!" Elder Li stared, bewildered and somewhat dumbfounded.
Even with his formidable cultivation and cautious disposition, Elder Li struggled to process what had happened.
They had originally assumed that their young master must have provoked the "Supreme Genius," goading the hotheaded Barbarian Tribe into attacking and accidentally killing him. They certainly had to avenge him, but once they arrived in all their fury, the Barbarian Tribe should have fallen to their knees and begged for forgiveness.
The "Supreme Genius," whose reputation was now soaring, was reportedly a young, reckless greenhorn, and a member of the lowly, weak Barbarian Tribe besides. Their assumptions were hardly surprising.
Now, however, things did not seem to be as they had imagined.
Activating the formations and ignoring them could still be attributed to the Barbarian Tribe's untamed savagery and hotheadedness. But that final reply had carried unmistakable disdain and contempt, a hint of swaggering arrogance, and an obvious, deliberate provocation!
"What is going on here?"
When something departed from the norm, there had to be a sinister reason. Having cultivated to the grand luo Golden Immortal Realm, Elder Li naturally possessed exceptional resolve. Though his anger had indeed been stoked to an extraordinary degree, he forcibly suppressed it and turned a questioning look on Elder Luo.
Elder Li was no fool. Recalling the strange behavior of the people from Profound Rock City, he felt certain something was wrong. Matters were not as Elder Luo had described!
Elder Luo knew that Elder Li had grown suspicious and that his scheme had failed, but he answered without the slightest concern, "What else could it be? They simply don't think anything of us!"
"Those people?" Elder Li asked doubtfully.
"On Black Rock Island, who dares think nothing of Profound Rock City and the Li Clan?"
