Ulrant's raised hand did touch something... but it was the frigid orb Rouge Mark had thrown straight at him.

Before he could even react to what had frozen his hand, the situation around him changed in an instant... someone had consecutively cast Ice Wall and Freezing Mist Spell to create a frigid environment.

Ice Storm began howling through Sun Hall as well... clearly, it had not been cast by just one person.

Only then did Ulrant come to his senses and begin casting a spell-nullifying barrier on himself... unfortunately, this Sixth-Circle Mage barrier could only negate spells below the fourth level... so an Ice Cone Spell swiftly knocked him flat.

He rolled across the ground several times, and his mage robes began flashing with light... it was an Anti-Magic Field. He had actually only just remembered to use it.

Even after Ulrant got to his feet, he only cast defensive spells on himself... he had no intention of counterattacking at all and merely struggled toward a corner.

That was probably where the mechanism controlling Candlekeep's magic formation was located.

He made his intentions far too obvious, so the lower-level girls were all casting Ice Storm... not to hurt Ulrant, but to create a casting environment for the other two female Mages, who were clearly of higher level.

Otiluke's Freezing Sphere howled toward Ulrant... the kaleidoscope of light around him proved just how wealthy Candlekeep's steward was.

Of course, it also proved his incompetence... a Sixth-Circle Mage spell was enough to leave him scrambling, utterly unsure what to do.

The spells that finally secured victory were Ice Claw Prison and Deep Freeze of the Seventh-Circle Mage... realizing Ulrant's protections were too strong, the black-haired girls chose to seal him away, freezing the man in the middle of Sun Hall.
