Demogorgon watched the solemn-faced Graz'zt outside the little building in the white cloud as it drifted unsteadily downward, wondering how likely he was to pit Graz'zt against the Undead, then exploit the chaos and take the Undead's side.
Then he could only shake his heads silently... judging by Graz'zt's behavior, that was impossible.
The relaxed manner of the young couple standing beside Graz'zt, cuddling and whispering to each other, made it clear just how well he treated them.
Although the Undead rarely paid much attention to other people's attitudes, that did not mean they were willing to reveal their softer side in front of someone who disliked them and showed it.
Even after their brief time together, Demogorgon could recognize their willful, uninhibited nature.
Graz'zt, who had spent far more time with the Undead, probably did not understand them as well as Demogorgon did.
After all, although that fellow was also called a Demon Prince, he cared about too many things, and the people and matters he avoided were too numerous to count.
He was nothing like Demogorgon, who usually acted according to his own nature, considering only whether he wanted to do something, not whether he could.
Demogorgon could see something of his own style in the Undead.
What surprised him was simply that every one of them had it... even being enemies did not affect that shared disposition.
Even the most cautious among them were intensely self-centered when they acted.
Demogorgon could not understand it at all. If they both did whatever they pleased, why were the Undead so lucky?
The Undead had elemental bodies; they were not formed from the power of nature... Demogorgon simply could not make sense of it.
But that did not stop him from entertaining the fantasy that siding with the Undead might
