The confusion on Old School Striking King's face was rather obvious, so Felis quickly explained, "Some people, such as Nicholson and the Archmage of Kament Tower, actually care a great deal about Archmage Rute.
"Over all these years, each of them had their own hardships and sorrows, but they managed to overcome them under the protection of the Black Enigma Tower.
"There may have been plenty they were unhappy with, but ultimately, they still relied on the Black Enigma Tower's protection.
"After this incident came to light, those two Archmages naturally realized that Archmage Rute most likely knew about some of the things they had been doing in secret.
"After all, not everything can be handled without leaving your own Mage Tower.
"And aside from the secret areas those two built themselves, absolutely nowhere else could escape the eyes of the Soul Tower's Tower Spirit.
"The Soul Tower's Tower Spirit holds all the primary control rights over the Black Enigma Tower's foundational magic array.
"So Archmage Rute must have seen some of it... but he chose to turn a blind eye, allowing them to choose their own paths as long as they didn't violate the Black Enigma Tower's principles.
"And that clearly went against Archmage Rute's own interests.
"At the very least, Rute must have known about Nicholson's constant attempts to expand his sphere of power, even daring to scheme against Rute's students, and Kament Tower's repeated attempts to entice ordinary Mages into siding with Sia Tower.
"Yet Rute really never stabbed them in the back at a critical moment over any of that."
Old School Striking King was practically dizzy from listening. She had to turn it over in her head several times before she understood what Felis meant.
Rute had never said anything because he didn't want others
