With a faint sorrow and a touch of melancholy, Felis finally reached the end.
Although the members of the Hainalson Family were hardly lacking in cunning or schemes, they possessed one fundamental quality that made them quite likable: they generally kept their promises.
Otherwise, their family could never have maintained its bottom line with so many idiots cropping up.
After all, no matter how much outsiders expanded their advantages, they could never get closer to the center of power than a true Hainalson.
However capable they were, they still had to have a genuine Hainalson as their public spokesperson.
And those Hainalsons, however greedy or foolish, were still accustomed to honoring their own words.
Otherwise, someone with Ulrich's explosive temper could never have lived so comfortably within the family... at least he never had to deal with people agreeing to his face and going back on their word behind his back.
Only after leaving the Hainalson Family did Felis learn what it meant for someone to make solemn assurances, then turn around and stab him in the back.
So, after entering this secret passage, which the Archmage in the Jade Lamp had clearly opened with the last of his strength, he was not overly worried.
His only fear was that the enemy had discovered this place long ago and was quietly waiting to deal with any Hainalson bold enough to return.
But the layers of shields on him, the various stacked attribute bonuses, and the Knight ahead of him, gleaming gold with a great ball of light overhead, left Felis feeling fairly confident.
Although he occasionally felt a twinge of envy when he saw how freely the Knight at the front moved on those short little legs, Felis quickly reminded himself that never growing up was not a positive blessing.
