Other than exchanging some herbs with Lynn, Hill only left the house every few days when he went to the library to spend money.
Even so, Hill could sense that the atmosphere in town had grown somewhat tense.
Perhaps those rangers had discovered something. Even if it was only the priests of the goddess of torture coming down from the mountains, they could still cause plenty of trouble.
Short on both food and clothing, they would not be buying things with money.
For most evil forces, robbery was the simplest way to stock up.
But a town with three temples and a library would not be easy to attack. They had probably been observing the area for some time.
Such surveillance was easy for a ranger-dominated town to detect, so on the rare occasions Hill went out, he could feel the tense, alarmed atmosphere everywhere.
Lynn even came to his door in his capacity as Sheriff to purchase magic scrolls above the Fifth Circle. Hill readily sold him some Ice Law and Wood Law scrolls.
Unfortunately, this was a woodland town, so fire could not be used casually. He truly wanted to see how effective the Fire-Element Law magic scrolls he had converted would be.
If they were powerful enough, Hill planned to make more.
The people of Faerûn had richer combat experience and could easily tell that he was a Mage of the Natural Elemental Law.
