Background
Hill was born to Melanie and Count Perast. Although he grew up under the count’s name, he was unwanted at the count’s castle and later discovered that much of his childhood understanding of his parents—particularly Melanie—had been softened or concealed by Lina, Adrian, and Falan. Melanie was talented, calculating, and morally complicated, but she also taught Hill seriously during her final illness and ensured he had a viable future as a Mage 3 220 221.
After awakening as a Sorcerer, Hill left the count’s household with Bourne, Lina, and their dependents. He chose an isolated valley beyond Salar’s western border, intending to build a secure Mage Tower, avoid political entanglements, and cultivate in peace 3. The valley developed into a protected settlement shared by servants, Elementals, Magical Beasts, Treants, Undead players, and Tower Spirits.
His rapid advancement brought him into increasingly large conflicts: the Abyssal invasion, disputes with the Mage Association and Elven factions, divine struggles, and later journeys across worlds. He repeatedly acquires influence and power while resisting attempts to turn him into an instrument of states, churches, or gods 100 209 2286.
Appearance
Hill has a youthful, elf-like appearance that often causes others to underestimate him. He consciously alters his clothing and hairstyle when he needs to project maturity or authority 157.
- Long golden hair, often styled away from his face for formal occasions 157
- Youthful face and conspicuous elven features 157
- Remained physically human after awakening deeper Earth Bear bloodline memories 53
- Possesses exceptional physical resilience and strength from his Earth Bear inheritance 199 508
- Often wears elaborate but practical enchanted robes, including a dark-green robe embroidered with leaf-like spell runes 157
Personality
Hill prefers safety, privacy, comfortable living, and a peaceful home over fame, dominance, or heroic adventure. His decision to establish a remote valley reflects a longstanding desire to avoid the violent ambitions common among nobles, Mages, and gods 3 199.
He is cautious to the point of paranoia around unfamiliar people, especially players, politicians, and anyone who tries to inspect his Mental Sea or possessions. He prepares escape routes, layered defenses, and independent sources of support before involving himself in danger 109 130 330. However, he does not tolerate threats to his freedom: those who attempt to imprison, kill, or exploit him are met with decisive retaliation 1346 1631.
Despite his detachment, Hill is protective toward people and beings he accepts as his own. He supports Bourne’s independence, provides his companions with safe homes and training, remembers friendly player families, and plans far ahead for the security of those he may eventually leave behind 83 1441 1788 2400.
Hill is intellectually curious and highly self-aware. He studies magic, alchemy, engineering, ecosystems, local customs, and economics, but has gradually learned that raw knowledge does not make him suited to every role. In particular, he recognizes that he lacks the patience and flexibility required to teach most students 56 576 1788.

- Stars of the Deep Forest provides an offensive variation of the formation.
- Plants within the formation can detect intruders, including invisible enemies 552.

- Possesses immense physical strength and durability 199 508.
- Can withstand ordinary Legendary-grade weapon strikes without visible injury 508.

Alchemy, Formations, and Artifact Crafting
Hill is an accomplished alchemist and magical engineer who favors practical defenses, storage, mobility, and long-term self-sufficiency.
- Researches Spatial Crystals and develops runes that reinforce formations and expand storage space 53.
- Constructs a heavily defended Puppet Horse carriage designed as a mobile miniature Mage Tower 56.
- Deciphers formations such as William and Falan’s Star-Attracting Array 270.
- Creates artifacts with his own Mental Sea, making their true properties difficult or impossible for others to inspect 549 550.
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Hill’s Spellbook / Magic Book — A sentient Semi-Divine Artifact created from Hill’s mental power. It summons same-level Elemental Sprites at almost no mana cost once every six hours; the summons may remain for up to sixty days and receive enhanced attributes and banishment resistance 550.
- Supreme Good Talisman — A low-grade Divine Artifact that opens a scorching fissure beneath Evil-aligned targets standing on the ground 358.
- Legendary Metal Law Puppet — A seemingly ordinary puppet with the combat power of a Legendary Swordsman, capable of breaking Legendary Mage shields 56.
- Oak Divine Artifact / pendant — A protected internal space containing supplies, elemental inhabitants, and the Moon Tree; it serves as both refuge and storage 130 204.
- Cloud Ship / Cloud House — Hill’s mobile residence and workshop, protected by formations and used for travel between major conflict zones 270 358.
- Legendary and Semi-Divine rings — Hill carries multiple rings and talismans for defense, elemental amplification, and emergency combat 552 558.
- Elemental Lords — Korenden and allied Water Elemental Lords function as major summoned defensive assets rather than conventional equipment 100 101.
Relationships
- Falan — Grandfather, mentor, and Hill’s strongest personal fate connection. Falan protects Hill’s growth while warning him against losing himself to Nature Consciousness 156 197.
- Adrian — Uncle, close friend, and trusted political ally. Their relationship is sustained by mutual restraint: neither expects the other to sacrifice all personal interests for the friendship 83 217.
- Liszt — Hill’s Tower Spirit, administrator, adviser, and primary manager of the valley’s daily affairs 53 330.
- Bourne — Loyal childhood companion whom Hill feels responsible for protecting. Hill is relieved when Bourne develops an independent path toward becoming an Archmage 3 83.
- Aglaia — Hill’s daughter-like Water Goddess companion. He trains, protects, and openly favors her, while she is deeply concerned with retaining that position in his life 549 2110.
- Lynn — Hill’s most trusted friend in Faerûn; Lynn’s honesty and kindness earn a level of trust Hill rarely gives others 773.
- William — Powerful ally and political counterpart. William repeatedly tests Hill’s identity and motives, while Hill supports William’s academy and broader projects when their interests align 193 217.
- Hai Weilsen and Aurelio — Earth Bear relatives connected to Hill through the fragment of the Earth Goddess’s soul within him 419.
- Ellie Ster — Alchemy student in Oaisis. Hill accepts her as “Teacher,” but later explicitly describes her as merely someone he knew and traded with, rejecting romantic rumors 1347 1413.
- Russell — Hill’s nominal student and the rare pupil suited to his demanding, self-directed teaching style 1788.
Story Role / Major Arcs
Establishing Hill Valley
Hill leaves Count Perast’s household after awakening as a Sorcerer and establishes a secluded valley as the foundation of his Mage Tower and independent life. He develops the settlement through alchemy, Elemental labor, protective arrays, and cooperation with players 3 53.
The Undead and Abyssal Invasion
Hill becomes a major player-facing figure through his shops, quests, rare-material purchases, and defensive support. During the Abyssal invasion, he transforms his Forest Formation into a healing refuge, summons Elemental Lords, and helps coordinate the players’ layered defenses 25 100 101.
Rise to Legend
Following his Magus advancement, Hill studies spatial magic, wind magic, and the Laws of nature. He enters the Legendary realm through a carefully prepared ritual that harmonizes his Mental Sea with the natural world, choosing peace and freedom over a more destructive route toward godhood 53 177 197 199.
Mage Association and Elven Conflicts
Hill resists the Mage Association’s attempts to control his wind magic and responds by preparing basic spells for William’s Mage Academy. He also learns the truth of his Moon Elf ancestry and becomes a politically significant figure in conflicts involving Elves, nature, and divine inheritance 169 217.
Faerûn and Aglaia
In Faerûn, Hill builds a secure territory, creates powerful mythals and artifacts, develops close ties with Lynn and Aglaia, and becomes a deterrent against hostile Mages, gods, pirates, and political factions 549 608 666 792.
Oaisis and the Belfran Identity
Hill enters Oaisis as the reclusive Sorcerer “Mr. Belfran,” deliberately hiding the true scale of his wealth and magic. He becomes Ellie Ster’s alchemy teacher while navigating noble conspiracies, foreign royal factions, and Oaisis’s attempts to benefit from his presence 1324 1346 1347.
Later Journeys and Mentorship
As his travels expand across worlds, Hill becomes more reflective about the consequences of his influence. He accepts responsibility for Russell and Carpenter’s futures, while refusing to sacrifice friends such as Purvi merely for easier survival 1765 1788.
