Hill's Deterrent

Hill turned the hall between his quarters and Telly's into a spacious study, with bookshelves lining three walls.

Then he began filling the shelves, row by row, with books from Faerûn.

He put the ones he had read on the upper shelves and his new purchases below.

Finally, he brought out a few Floating Discs. After setting them so they could not leave the main house, he released them into the open space and let them drift wherever they liked.

Whenever he needed one, a Mage Hand could summon it over.

After some thought, he added a large kitchen and dining room to the ground floor on his side. He would not conduct any powerful spell experiments in this house; at most, he would finish the fourth chapter of his Magic Book.

He had a feeling this chapter would be the last time the Magic Book produced only a minor reaction when it connected to the world's origin.

So he simply divided the second floor into a spell laboratory and an alchemy laboratory, protecting them with a few advanced magic arrays.

They only needed to withstand attacks at the Legendary level. There was no need to make everything perfect when he would live here for only a few years.

By the time Hill had nearly finished, Martha and the puppets had furnished all the houses.

He went into his side and summoned a Floating Disc to carry him straight up to the third floor. He had placed a stairwell between his quarters and the hall, then made room in a corner for the discs to travel freely between floors.

He had no intention of receiving visitors in his private rooms, so apart from a large bathroom, the entire floor was open-plan.

Every wall had been transformed into blue Ocean Crystal,
