Otherwise, more and more people like Blackstaff would come to utterly despise Elves.
"You can take a look at that crusade from Evermeet." The proprietress understood as well, but chose to pour cold water on them. "You probably haven't gone home in a hundred years, have you? Go back and you'll understand what it means to raise spoiled fools.
"Elven birth rates have fallen again over the past century. They can't bear to hit even the dumbest children, so they've raised a whole bunch of useless trash."
Hill raised a hand. "May I have the honor of inviting this beautiful lady for a drink?"
"Aline Avaris." The beautiful, tall proprietress sat down decisively. "I know you. You're Hill, Lord of the Undead Swamp, aren't you? And the other one should be Lynn, Quelva's sheriff?"
"That's right." Hill waved over a female server who had been sneaking glances in their direction. "What would the lady like to drink?"
"A glass of Evermeet Springwater. I don't like alcohol. And there's no need for you to treat me—this is my establishment." Avaris tipped her chin toward the server, and the Moon Elf girl immediately skipped away like a startled fawn.
She turned to glance at several Elves slipping out on tiptoe. "Waterdeep's Elves aren't like those in Silver Moon City. Only people like those layabouts, who drift through life doing nothing, can live comfortably here.
"They're really just full of nonsense. They don't dare do anything else, but they're unpleasant to listen to.
"Of course, I don't serve Orcs or certain rude humans either."
Avaris proudly lifted her chin. "It's my establishment. Naturally, I can choose my customers."
Hill had long since seen through her. This
