Fairies could form families, of course. After falling in love with an adult, they could even sacrifice some of their power to take human or Elven form.
But children born that way almost always belonged to the adult parent's race, with a trace of Fey blood. They could not become true Fairies.
That was why bloodlines mattered so much where the Court of Delight stood. Fairies had to be pure-blooded. Apart from humans or Elves who wandered in by mistake, no other race was allowed into the House of Shade, even those with Fairy blood.
Flower Fairies could give birth to sons, too, but those sons were born wingless Fey. Beautiful as they were, they lived on the ground and made their living by directing Elven insects.
They had no wings, but they were far better fighters than Flower Fairies.
Hill quietly glanced at the male Flower Fairy flying beside Vera. They were deep in an excited discussion about delicate little magical curios, some small enough for Flower Fairies to hold and play with.
The only male God in the Court of Delight who could take the forms of various races and was willing to venture outside was probably Vera's father, Oberon, the Lord of Beasts.
What could Hill say about him? No wonder he was the first person anyone noticed, even among a crowd of Flower Fairies. His beauty was truly exceptional, though quite different from Corellon's.
