Khelben sighed. Although his wife had remained in the City of Hope for their two children, she had completely fallen out with him.

As fellow Chosen of the Goddess of Magic, Laira leaned more toward Alustriel's approach. She disliked how he had strayed onto an evil path for the so-called road to godhood, and she did not believe their children needed Khelben to do much for them at all.
