The Mighty Temple of Light!

A mission to the Dark World clearly called for more than William's pair of God's Hands. They needed plenty of preparation, or the two of them would be dead the moment they arrived.

So they used a Portal to make the long journey in mind and hurried to the Temple of Light's headquarters.

This was only William's second visit. This time, they took a side entrance and saw no outsiders, though Temple Knight guards stood at every turn.

The two of them arrived before a tower inside the Temple of Light.

A tall, powerfully built Priest in white robes waited at the entrance with a Flail and shield in hand, standing there like a gatekeeper.

When he saw Lancelot, he swept a beam of white light over him. Once Lancelot's identity was confirmed, the Priest led them inside.

"Light Temple Magic Research Tower." Lancelot pointed to the words above their heads.

William could not help feeling a surge of delight when he read them. This Magic Tower stood hundreds of meters tall and was the equivalent of a national research institute, packed with cutting-edge experimental products, magic potions, equipment, and tools.

It was one of the most closely guarded places any Top Faction had, much like Dawn City's multifunctional Magic Tower. His Highness the Prince felt rather like Agent 007. Perhaps he could come away with a little something extra.

The two followed the Priest into the tower's Miniature Teleportation Array. William watched him press the button marked -89.

His mouth twitched. Was the Magic Tower just a front, with all the real treasures hidden underground?

What was the deal?

Did everyone besides the Dwarf Race dig underground without running into Flame Demons?

Well, they probably had not dug deep enough.

Space flickered, and a small passage appeared before them.
