The Gods Continent, in its complete form, was truly enormous.
At only a few times the speed of sound, William had no hope of exploring the whole world to his heart's content. Still, after several months, he had seen a world of dazzling variety.
Then, just as he flew beyond the atmosphere to quietly admire the continent below, he noticed time speeding up.
He had been an observer from the start, but now that role felt even more absolute. He clearly saw everything on the Gods Continent developing and changing as if the world had been set to fast-forward.
The Human Race kept growing. Humans no longer lived only in scattered settlements.
They had learned to build cities and understood how important walls were to their safety.
He saw hordes of Orcs. The little bastards tore around like maniacs, wreaking havoc everywhere. So many races had come to hate them that they formed alliances and clamored daily to wipe out the brats of those tribes.
He saw a group of slight Humanoid Beings who seemed to have gills on their necks. Born able to live on land and in water, they dwelled along the coast. But their mouths were full of sharp teeth, and their somewhat savage nature put them at odds with most other races. They seemed to be the future Deep Sea Folk.
In that era, Dragons were nothing more than oversized bugs. They still lived in groups, Metallic Dragons and Elemental Dragons alike, terrified that powerful Magical Beasts or all manner of giant monsters might carry them off as food.
Meanwhile, faith in the Deities kept spreading like poison until it covered the entire Gods Continent and the Endless Sea.
