Background

Madara was in the Pure Land when an unknown spacetime force tore him from the afterlife and forced his soul into the body of a recently deceased Flamel child in Knockturn Alley. The child had died after taking Dust-Returning Powder, driven to suicide by the persecution and destruction of the Flamel family. Madara survived by merging his soul and memories with the boy’s body. 1

The vessel possessed crimson eyes, immense but blocked magical power, abnormal vitality, and blood that slowed aging. Madara concluded that the Flamel line carried a diluted Otsutsuki-like inheritance. Though his chakra was nearly depleted and the body could not withstand high-level ninjutsu, he recognized the world’s abundant natural energy as the basis for rebuilding his strength. 1

Within days, Madara began retaliating against those who had profited from the Flamel bloodline. He killed five dark wizards who came to capture him, extracted their knowledge through soul-searching, and targeted the brokers and families named in their information. 2 3 His assault on the black-market broker Viper established the Uchiha fan crest as a warning to London’s magical underground and created the “Blood Lord” legend. 4

Madara initially occupies the body of a frail, youthful Flamel heir, but carries himself with the composure and menace of an experienced warlord. His presence is repeatedly described as oppressive enough to silence crowds, intimidate wizards, and force others to avert their gaze. 1 18 36
