The driver got out and helped Yu An open the car door.

Yu An bent down and got in. He Li'an set aside the document in his hand and reached for his backpack, asking with concern, "How's your foot? Does it hurt anywhere?"

"No." Yu An glanced at the document and saw the words "He Group."

He Li'an noticed him looking but made no move to hide it. "Something came up, and I need to go to the company. Would you mind coming with me?"

Yu An was not particularly curious about documents. Before looking away, he saw the words "Sheng Group" again.

He asked, "Can we be home before six?"

Six o'clock was the most scientific and standard time for dinner.

He was used to eating on time.

He Li'an finally closed the document. "Not necessarily. Or I can have the driver take you home first."

That sounded a little troublesome.

It would not be very conducive to building trust with He Li'an.

Yu An changed his mind. "Let's just go to your company."

He adjusted into a comfortable position, relaxed against the soft leather seat, and turned to look out the window.

He had not gone out often before, not because he lacked curiosity about the world.

It was because books said minors were not advised to go out alone.

After telling the driver to start driving, He Li'an turned to look at Yu An.

Whenever they faced each other, He Li'an could not help being drawn to Yu An's eyes. They were so pure that no stray thoughts could be seen within them. He instinctively regarded Yu An as a child in need of care and easily tolerated his presumptuousness.

But Yu An's profile gave an entirely different impression.

He was very thin, yet his side profile still showed a slight babyish softness. His features were smooth and gentle, giving him an overly tranquil air.

So tranquil it seemed detached, like an outsider removed from everything, as though nothing had anything to do with him.

"Do you often eat at restaurants?"

At some point, the child had turned back and was looking at him with those clear black-and-white eyes.

The moment He Li'an met his gaze, that strange feeling from earlier vanished again. He glanced outside and found that there was a restaurant by the roadside.

"Yes. I have many dinners and gatherings I have to attend."

"Oh." Yu An thought about it but said nothing.

He Li'an, however, seemed to have guessed what he was thinking. "Would you like to try eating out tonight?"

Yu An blinked, somewhat hesitant. "Together?"

He Li'an's lips curved faintly. "Of course."

When they arrived at the company, He Li'an went to a meeting while Yu An remained in his office.

Generally speaking, offices contained plenty of confidential documents, and people were not casually left alone inside.

Yu An suspected that He Li'an's eventual death was very likely due to trusting others too easily.

He took a lap around the office, then stopped in front of the floor-to-ceiling windows.

So high.

From over forty floors up, the people below looked as tiny as ants.

After watching for a while, Yu An felt dizzy, so he turned and walked around the desk to sit in the executive chair.

It was soft but supportive. A good chair.

Yu An sat in it and spun around idly. Looking around, he saw that not a single ornament in the office appeared inexpensive.

He Li'an's home was huge, and his company was huge too. So He Li'an should have a lot of money.

If He Li'an died, what would happen to his money?

Yu An planted one foot on the floor, stopping the chair. He considered this impassively for a moment, and his gaze gradually became resolute.

Then he took out his phone and typed in "Marriage Law."

When He Li'an returned from the meeting, Yu An was sitting obediently at his desk, reading.

His back was perfectly straight and his shoulders naturally level, an impeccably upright posture.

He Li'an had noticed long ago that Yu An was naïve in dealing with people, but when it came to doing things, he was always earnest and focused, like a child living according to a textbook.

He did not disturb the child reading so intently. He silently walked behind him and bent down to look at the book's contents.

The content was familiar. It was a professional book He Li'an had read before.

It was usually kept on the office bookshelf.

He finished a page at a normal reading speed, then waited another five minutes. When Yu An still had not turned the page, he spoke at the appropriate moment. "What part don't you understand?"

The child seemed startled. His ears twitched as he turned around with some uncertainty.

When he saw that it was He Li'an, his whole body immediately relaxed. He tilted his head slightly and pointed to a spot in the book for He Li'an to see.

"Here. I haven't seen this word before."

He Li'an bent down slightly, maintaining a polite distance with measured restraint as he explained it to him slowly.

Even so, they were still very close.

He caught the faint scent of perfume.

They had worn the same perfume that morning, but He Li'an knew that what he smelled was the fragrance on Yu An.

It was a perfume he had always used and had never shared with anyone else. Perhaps because it was the first time he had smelled his own perfume on another person, a secret restlessness stirred along his nerve endings.

He vaguely realized that this restlessness carried an offensive implication, and his body unconsciously drew back a little.

That movement distracted him, and he forgot that he was still explaining a technical term to Yu An.

Only when Yu An turned back and looked at him with puzzled eyes did he realize his lapse.

He Li'an straightened up, doing his best to maintain a composed expression. "If you're interested in this book, I can make some notes for you."

After saying that, he quietly sighed to himself in frustration.

Even he could hear that his voice was tight and unnatural.

Yu An was not stupid. He would definitely notice too.

"Okay." Yu An smiled, the corners of his eyes curving downward in a sweet, bright expression.

He looked as though he had not noticed anything unusual about him.

Fortunately.

He Li'an relaxed. "It's five. Let's go out for dinner."

Part of the time would be spent getting to the restaurant, and part would be spent waiting for the food, so if they left now, they would probably be able to eat around six.

"Mm." Yu An took out his phone. "I picked a restaurant just now. Take a look."

"...All right."

He Li'an actually had restaurants he frequented, but Yu An looked so eager that he did not want to dampen his enthusiasm.

The name belonged to an unfamiliar restaurant. He had never been there, but the dishes looked quite good.

Yu An was still sitting in the chair, looking up at him. "What do you think?"

"You like this place?" He Li'an handed the phone back to him.

"Mm."

"Then we'll eat there."

When they went out, the secretarial office was just preparing to leave work. He Li'an had already introduced Yu An by name when they arrived earlier. After greeting them from the side, the secretaries all stared at Yu An in unison.

"They're all looking at me." Yu An quietly grabbed He Li'an's sleeve.

"Don't be afraid. They're just curious." He Li'an's voice was gentle. He cast a faint glance in that direction, and the next second, the group of secretaries withdrew their gazes and scattered.
