Chi Li and Si Jinyan split up. Si Jinyan went to find Yao Di, while Chi Li went to rescue the others.

Inside the office, Bai Qi's back was pressed tightly against the wall. Yao Di stood before him, glaring at him with a ferocious expression, one hand clamped around his throat. Blood stained the fine wool carpet.

Yao Di gradually tightened his grip. Bai Qi struggled to breathe, his face growing paler and paler. Yao Di snarled, "You betrayed me?! When did you get in touch with Si Jinyan? When?!"

A circle of soldiers surrounded them. Bai Qi did not dare move, nor could he. The suffocating sensation spread from his lungs to his mind, then through his entire body, robbing him even of the ability to speak.

Yet his gaze remained calm. Aside from his tightly furrowed brows and parted lips due to physical discomfort, Bai Qi looked at Yao Di with the cold indifference one might show a dying man—and a faint hint of satisfaction.
