Background

Chi Li is one of the few members of Loran’s royal family with cream-scented pheromones. His parents were respected researchers: his omega father directed the Luolan First Research Institute, while his other father was also an exceptional researcher. Both died in scientific research. His grandfather was a celebrated general with longstanding ties to Loran’s imperial household. 1 44

Much of Chi Li’s early memory is missing. He was raised within a mercenary corps by his uncle, Sheng Rui, who later died protecting him during a mission. Chi Li received military training from childhood and developed a foundation in combat, reconnaissance, and rapid response. 1 44 46

Loran selected Chi Li to infiltrate the Empire because his pheromones held over eighty-percent compatibility with Imperial Marshal Si Jinyan. Since Chi Li was an alpha and had failed omega recruitment standards, he underwent extensive omega modification, pheromone alteration, clinical testing, and counter-surveillance training to pass as a compatible omega from West City. 1 30

Story Role

Infiltration of Si Jinyan

Chi Li enters the Empire as “Number 06,” a supposedly impoverished omega volunteer selected for compatibility testing with Si Jinyan. He survives Si Jinyan’s pheromonal pressure, gains the Marshal’s trust by soothing his condition, and moves into the Marshal’s residence to continue his intelligence work. 1 2

While posing as timid and admiring, Chi Li investigates Si Jinyan’s estate, researches his suspiciously incomplete history, and seeks access to classified rooms and records. His growing affection complicates his effort to treat their relationship as a mission. 3 4 7 9

Hostage Crisis and Abduction

During a West City hostage crisis, Chi Li deliberately suppresses his combat abilities to protect his cover. Si Jinyan shields him from two bullets, leaving Chi Li profoundly unsettled by the Marshal’s sacrifice. 10 11

Chi Li later becomes the target of an assassination attempt and is abducted by mercenaries. He conceals his training, sends Si Jinyan the kidnappers’ location, endures forced pheromone extraction, and escapes by killing guards despite severe injuries. 18 19 20

Merfolk Mysteries

After collapsing near the coast, Chi Li encounters a mysterious figure who identifies him as a possible royal descendant before he is rescued by Bai Qi. Bai Qi later reveals that members of his bloodline can sense one another in danger, raising questions about Chi Li’s own origins. 20 21 26

Chi Li investigates the Humanoid Weapon Project and discovers evidence of Si Jinyan’s merfolk identity. His superiors elevate the operation to S-class and order him to determine whether Si Jinyan is a modified or evolved human. 28 30

Exposure and Escape

Qiu Rui ultimately exposes Chi Li as a Loran alpha, former mercenary, and Intelligence Department spy. His deception and investigation push Si Jinyan into a dangerous, unstable confrontation with him. 30 32

Amid Imperial schemes involving Bai Qi, the Merfolk Core, and Si Jinyan’s loss of control, Chi Li is shot near the heart with a Mermaid-scale bullet. He later escapes the Empire through routes apparently arranged by Si Jinyan and returns to Loran. 37 40 41

Return to Loran

Back in Loran, Chi Li resumes mercenary work, military training, and intelligence duties while concealing the trauma of his time with Si Jinyan. He continues following news of the Marshal and suffers recurring dreams and unexplained physical changes. 42 43

A medical report reveals that Chi Li is in the early stages of pregnancy, an outcome he considers impossible because he is an alpha. Before he can process the result, he accepts a body-double protection mission, during which Si Jinyan infiltrates the secured location and confronts him again. 45 46 47
