The sorrow carried through the pheromones nearly congealed into something tangible, venting Si Jinyan's emotions.

Chi Li remained unmoved. His eyelids lowered as he stared at the pearls on the floor. Si Jinyan immediately stopped crying again, and the emotions in his pheromones became somewhat restrained, only to turn into a deeply suppressed sense of grievance the next moment.

For safety's sake, and to give Chi Li room to deal with things, Lu Jiu dismissed the people around them and left as well. When Chi Li looked up, Lu Jiu signaled to him with his eyes, then made a gesture indicating that Chi Li should contact him if there was a problem.

Chi Li nodded.

Si Jinyan glanced at Lu Jiu, who left without looking back.

Once silence returned to the area, Si Jinyan's pheromones gradually steadied as well.

Si Jinyan looked at the fresh white bandages wrapped around Chi Li and said, "You got hurt again."

Chi Li's gaze fell on Si Jinyan's face. "Wasn't it because of you?"

This matter had been interrupted midway by Si Jinyan. Xu Yin had initially sensed a certain unease, while Chi Li now felt only exhaustion—exhaustion that drowned out the anger he should have felt.
