A Word on Going Premium

I'd been writing on and off for several years now. I counted as both an old hand and a newcomer.

An old hand because I couldn't keep up with the times.

A newcomer because I didn't understand anything.

This was my second contracted novel to go premium. The previous one was a Worlds-type novel in 2019. When it went premium, it had 23 bookmarks and 2 subscriptions, one of which was from the chief editor. Then it flopped. That was also the first novel I'd ever truly sat down and written, reaching 130,000 words. It had since been banned.

Later, I went to some smaller websites. Some people even tipped me, but none of the novels got contracts, and I was scammed out of a few hundred yuan.

I also wrote several fanfics on Qidian, all Battle Through the Heavens fanfics, under another account. None of them got contracts, so I dropped them all. My best-performing one reached 100,000 words and 1,000 bookmarks, yet still couldn't get signed.

From 2023 until now, several internal submissions had all been rejected because my writing was too poor.

The pure campus romance stories I wrote also all flopped, with only single-digit bookmarks.

This was the first novel I'd posted this year, and the editor sent me a message on the second day.

This book's results were also better than all my previous books combined.

Still, compared to books from the same period, it was somewhat lacking. I understood that my writing and ideas weren't as good as others', and there were also some turnoffs.

But I kept writing it anyway, updating every day.

Actually, some time ago, my mother was diagnosed with liver cancer. Fortunately, my family could afford the treatment, and today's surgery was very successful.

This didn't count as fishing for sympathy, right?
