History

Origins and decline

The Xiao Clan once possessed Dou Emperor and Dou King experts and had roots in the Central Plains. Its decline was attributed to its fading bloodline, losses during the Xiao–Hun conflict, the severing of its inheritance by the Ancient Clan, and a failed attempt to divide the Jia Ma Empire with the Misty Cloud Sect and Imperial Family. After losing its strongest experts, the clan withdrew from Jia Ma Sacred City to Wutan City. 10

By the beginning of the story, it was one of Wutan City’s Three Major Families. Internal tension existed between Clan Head Xiao Zhan and the Great Elder, but the clan remained cohesive against outside threats. 1

The clan sheltered Lin Qing after his parents, Lin Tang and Xiao Yue, were killed during a clan mission. It dispatched two Grand Dou Masters alongside the City Lord’s Manor to destroy the bandits responsible, gave Lin Qing a private courtyard and servants, and promised him a suitable position regardless of his eventual cultivation. 1

Rise through Lin Qing

The clan initially regarded Xiao Yan as its foremost young genius after he reached Third Duan Dou Force at five and a half years old. Members predicted that he could become a future pillar of the family and restore its former prestige. 1

Lin Qing’s public display of Grand Dou Master-level strength displaced Xiao Yan as the clan’s most celebrated prodigy. Despite not being a direct-line member, Lin Qing was accepted as a genuine representative of the clan through his Xiao bloodline and upbringing. 12

Before departing Wutan City, Lin Qing exchanged the clan’s inherited Ancient Emperor Jade for thirty-one Mystic-Tier cultivation and combat techniques, medicinal pills, twenty million gold coins, and a commitment to resettle the clan in Jia Ma Sacred City. Xiao Zhan and the elders accepted because the immediate resources were more valuable to the weakened clan than the jade’s uncertain legacy. 13

With Lin Qing’s resources and the Mittel Family’s backing, the Xiao Clan surpassed its local rivals. It destroyed the Jia Lie and Aobo Clans and became Wutan City’s uncontested dominant force. 89 155

Return to Jia Ma Sacred City

When Lin Qing returned after three and a half years, he reinforced the clan’s position by arranging for the Amethyst Winged Lion King and his daughter—both Dou Emperor-level Magical Beasts—to serve as guest elders. 156 157

The clan leadership used Life-Eroding Pills to strengthen itself: Xiao Zhan rose to Five-Star Dou King, while the Great Elder and Second Elder became Three-Star Dou Kings. Lin Qing criticized their unconsulted use of the pills but planned to offset their drawbacks with further resources and lifespan-extending medicine. 173

The clan formally relocated most of its members to a restored and expanded Xiao Mansion in central Jia Ma Sacred City, while retaining personnel in Wutan City to manage its businesses. 182
