Tardis's roar echoed through the empty crater, filled with defiance and obsession.
He shakily hauled his battered body upright. Bones scraped at his severed arm with a horrifying sound, and blood dripped from the stump, leaving tiny marks on the ground.
Sparta stood at the edge of the pit, looking down at him.
Tardis mustered the last of his strength, raised his remaining arm, and drove his fist straight at Sparta's chest.
Sparta sidestepped the punch and extended his right hand, slicing across his opponent's neck with a Knife Hand.
Tardis's body stalled for a moment. Blood sprayed as his head parted from his neck and flew high into the air in an arc.
The head spun through the air, its eyes wide with one last trace of shock and defiance.
Sparta raised a hand and caught it.
He fell silent for a moment, then lifted the head before his face and stared into its lifeless eyes.
"Are you going to come back for a third round too?"
With that, he pressed his palms against either side of the head and squeezed hard.
The skull groaned under the pressure, buckling and twisting until all that remained was a patty of flesh.
Sparta parted his palms and let the bloody patty fall to the ground. He turned and walked steadily into the distance without looking back.
But after a few steps, he stopped again. With his back to Tardis's corpse, he pinched his chin with his bloodstained right hand.
"What if he's playing dead to fool me?"
Then, seized by a burst of poetic inspiration, Sparta struck Tardis's corpse countless more times to make sure he was dead.
Only when the corpse no longer resembled its original shape did he nod in satisfaction and leave the unnamed asteroid for good.
