Jayce naturally had no idea what Sparta was thinking at that moment.
He raised his arm and looked at the wristband on his wrist. The time displayed on it showed that there were less than ten minutes until the operation officially began.
There might have been many Viltrumite Warriors gathered here now.
But once the war was over, how many of them would still be alive?
Half? Ten percent? Or perhaps not even ten percent would survive.
The thought filled Jayce with sorrow.
He, Sparta, and all the recruits in Squad Three might become part of the dead.
Between life and death, they could only leave it to fate.
"Get ready. It's almost time."
Jayce lowered his raised arm and slightly turned his head, glancing at Sparta and the other recruits from the corner of his eye.
Sparta nodded lightly, knowing that what lay ahead was no small skirmish like before.
At that moment, the chaotic sounds of countless conversations vanished completely. Everyone wore solemn expressions and fell silent.
Even the sound of the wind became exceptionally clear. Evidently, everyone knew what they were about to face.
As time slowly ticked by, all of their wristbands began to vibrate faintly, accompanied by a series of dings.
Under Sparta's gaze, those Viltrumite Warriors who had long been eager to prove themselves on the battlefield shot into the sky one after another.
In the blink of an eye, they broke through the clouds, left the atmosphere, and entered the boundless expanse of space.
As each second passed, more and more Viltrumite Warriors flew into space, following their leaders toward their assigned destinations.
Jayce no longer hesitated. He took a deep breath, his voice steady and resolute.
"Squad Three, follow me!"
With that, his figure vanished from the spot in an instant.
Sparta and the others immediately followed, flying with him into the vast universe.
The Viltrumite Warriors scattered in every direction through space, with no specific targets.
Their only mission was to bring every civilization they encountered that had yet to submit under the Empire's rule.
As for those who resisted stubbornly, there was only one path left to them: death.
As Jayce led the group through space, he reminded them,
"The wristbands you're wearing have a search function. They can detect civilization activity within several light-years."
"Pay attention to the information displayed. Some civilizations have already submitted to the Viltrumite Empire. Our primary targets are those that have not."
His voice rang in everyone's minds, and they all acknowledged it.
"Understood, sir."
After a long while, they arrived beside a planet.
Sparta looked down at the planet below as his wristband displayed a Holographic Projection report.
The oceans on this planet covered ninety-eight percent of its surface. It was practically a water world enveloped by endless seas.
Yet within the mere two percent of its land area existed highly advanced city-state civilizations.
Two intelligent species lived here: the Scaleclad Folk, who lived on land, and the Undersea Folk, who inhabited the oceans.
The report clearly stated that this was a planet that had not submitted to the Empire.
"Very good. This planet will be our first target."
Jayce led everyone into the planet's atmosphere.
But the moment they entered it, a red beam struck one of the members of the group.
The man was instantly knocked out of formation by the sudden beam, and the chest of his skintight combat suit was scorched black.
"Damn it!"
The recruit cursed, reaching out to brush away the charred mark on his chest and revealing the undamaged combat suit beneath.
Sparta withdrew his gaze and focused once more on the ground below.
The next second, countless red beams shot up from below, forming a dense net of firepower.
Everyone hurriedly scattered, evading the incoming beams.
"Looks like they don't welcome us."
"Then let's move!"
Jayce was the first to burst through the barrage, diving downward through the incoming beams.
Sparta followed suit, imitating Jayce's posture as he dove down with him.
His body rubbed violently against the air, and flames enveloped him from head to toe.
Directly below, several Scaleclad Folk gathered beside a turret installation, staring in terror at the fireball falling from the sky.
They resembled pangolins, but compared to ordinary pangolins, they had longer limbs and could walk upright.
The Scaleclad Folk let out panicked cries and scrambled away into the distance.
"Boom!!"
Sparta crashed down from the sky, shattering the turret. Metal fragments flew in all directions amid the shockwave.
The fleeing Scaleclad Folk were all thrown to the ground by the shockwave.
Sparta slowly rose from a crouch in the center of the crater, his gaze settling on the Scaleclad Folk who were just beginning to crawl back to their feet.
Realizing how terrifyingly powerful the invader was, they hurriedly got up and tried to flee.
But they had barely taken a few steps when Sparta vanished in an instant.
Then he reappeared, his fist punching into one of their backs and tearing out through his chest.
The remaining Scaleclad Folk turned to witness the scene. Terror flooded their bodies, and they ran even faster.
But the next second, Sparta's fist came into view, accompanied by the sound of tearing wind.
Before another Scaleclad Folk could scream, he collapsed to the ground, dead on the spot.
Sparta turned his gaze toward the remaining Scaleclad Folk.
Several sharp whistles cut through the air, and a number of headless bodies slowly fell as blood gushed from their necks.
Sparta shook the blood from his hands and finally looked into the distance.
There, Jayce was carrying out a one-sided massacre.
He rampaged through the city, tearing apart the Scaleclad Folk's buildings as easily as if they were made of paper.
A massive space warship flew in from afar. Inside its control room, Scaleclad Folk frantically operated the consoles and successfully locked onto Jayce.
A Scaleclad Folk pressed his palm against a red button. Energy gradually gathered around the main cannon, and a thick red beam blasted out from it.
Jayce, flying through the air, was blasted into the ground. The beam continued firing without any sign of stopping.
His body was driven deeper and deeper by the bombardment until he disappeared completely into the crater.
The next moment, Jayce charged straight up through the energy cannon's blast.
He smashed through the warship's main cannon and burst out through the other side.
Jayce stabilized himself in midair, turned around, and pierced through the warship several more times.
Alarms were already blaring inside the warship, while red lights flashed continuously.
The operators frantically worked the consoles, but they still could not stop the warship from collapsing.
With a bang, the warship exploded in midair, and its burning wreckage fell from the sky.
At that moment, a creature that looked neither fully human nor fully fish emerged from the sea.
But as soon as he surfaced, he felt the sky above him darken.
Looking up, he saw the burning wreckage of the warship crashing down toward him.
He immediately opened his mouth in terror and widened his eyes so much they nearly popped from their sockets.
Without time to think, he turned and plunged headfirst into the sea, swimming desperately into the depths.
However, the wreckage crashed into the ocean and formed a massive whirlpool, dragging him in as his screams were swallowed by the seawater.
