Lin Hai stopped before the metal door engraved with complex sealing runes and used the door-opening technique The Ancient One had taught him.
The runes on the door lit up like a strip of lights, golden radiance flowing and spreading along their paths until it illuminated the intricate magic formation across the entire door.
Then, the heavy metal door slowly opened inward. Lin Hai stepped inside, and after he entered, the door automatically closed behind him, completely shutting out the outside light and the faint shouts from the training grounds.
Upon entering the Containment Chamber, Lin Hai's gaze immediately fell upon the figure restrained against the wall. Compared to several years ago, the Demon God Pioneer looked even more gaunt.
Several chains made of pure golden energy extended from the walls and floor, wrapping around its torso and limbs and pinning it firmly in place, unable to move.
Lin Hai's gaze eventually settled on the Demon God Pioneer's bowed head. Its head tilted to one side, its entire body utterly still, as though it truly were nothing more than a corpse devoid of all life.
But Lin Hai soon noticed two faint, dim points of light deep within its sunken eye sockets, like the flame produced when a strand of hair burned.
They were its Soul Fire.
"It's actually still alive..." Lin Hai's tone carried both surprise and reflection.
However, this kind of "life" had clearly reached its limit. Lin Hai had no doubt that in its current state, it probably could not even deal with an ordinary human child holding a wooden stick. The energy remaining in its body was likely only enough to keep those two barely visible wisps of Soul Fire from going completely out.
